31. Chapter 31: I Don’t Need You to Save Me

Xuanyuan Hongyu still would not let her go. He tilted his head, gesturing for the little one to kiss him. Ling Wei was furious—how could such a person exist?

"Little Dumpling, I don't see any sincerity in you. Is this the attitude you use to beg me?" Xuanyuan Hongyu looked dangerously at the restless little girl in his arms.

Ling Wei glared at him indignantly, then glanced at the pathetic little monkey lying on the ground, unable to move. Since she had already kissed him several times, one more wouldn't make a difference.

She closed her eyes and slowly brought her red lips toward the youth's. Watching her lips draw closer and closer, Xuanyuan Hongyu somehow forgot his surroundings, his heart suddenly pounding violently against his chest.

The damp, crimson lips finally brushed against his just as his heart felt ready to leap from his breast. Unfortunately, the warm, moist sensation vanished in a flash.

"That's enough, put me down." Ling Wei’s mind was entirely on the little monkey.

Xuanyuan Hongyu stared with dissatisfaction at the little monkey, which was still feigning misery, and felt a surge of secret resentment. How could the little one be so dense? Was he, an incomparable, handsome youth, really losing out to a beast? It was preposterous!

He did not put the little girl down as she had asked. "No. The last one didn't count. Do it again. Kiss me until I'm satisfied."

Ling Wei glared at the youth who went back on his word. "Stinky Sack! You broke your promise! You just agreed to it!" She clenched her small fists, itching to land a blow on him. What a detestable, promise-breaking villain!

Watching the spirited little girl before him, Xuanyuan Hongyu’s mood suddenly lifted. This was the little girl he had stayed by all this time, the one he was unwilling to leave.

"Are you going to kiss me or not? If you don't, you won't have another chance, and we're heading back to the General's Mansion right now!"

Ling Wei didn't close her eyes this time. Instead, she opened them wide and sank her teeth fiercely into the youth’s succulent red lips! Her sharp little teeth looked fragile, but she put all her strength into it, determined to teach this annoying guy a lesson! She bit down hard without holding back. Soon, a trace of blood began to seep from the youth's lip.

Ling Wei looked triumphantly at the blood-red lips before her. Hmph, that’ll teach you to bully me!

Xuanyuan Hongyu watched the smug little thing with amusement, his eyes flashing with a wicked charm as he licked the blood from his lips. "Little one, you’ve got a lot of nerve. Satisfied now?"

Ling Wei stiffened her neck and huffed, "Yes, very! Put me down." The monkey trainer was about to leave, which meant the poor monkey would be taken away too. If the monkey was gone, what was the point of all this?

"Quick! Quick! Put me down! That little monkey... it..." The little one struggled anxiously in his arms; she truly wanted to rescue the creature.

"What does that have to do with me? You should worry about yourself first. You think you can just bite me and have it end there? Hmm?" Xuanyuan Hongyu was deeply displeased that the little one was focusing on the monkey, so he deliberately went against her wishes.

"Hey, you clearly promised me! You can't go back on your word!" Ling Wei really didn't know what to say to this guy anymore.

The monkey was locked back into its cage by the trainer and was about to be taken away. Ling Wei’s eyes turned red with anxiety. "Xuanyuan Hongyu, take me over there now! I want to save that little monkey. Take me over there!"

"That beast doesn't need your saving. It’s far better off with the trainer than it would be with you. Stop thinking about it," Xuanyuan Hongyu explained calmly.

Ling Wei was in no mood to listen to his logic; her heart and eyes were fixed entirely on the monkey trainer and the monkey on his back, who were moving further and further away.
