The two carried themselves with great intimacy. A female reporter rushed forward from behind, ignoring the fact that her feet were being trampled, and asked sharply, "President Leng, what is your relationship with Ziyan? Why do you appear in her social circles so frequently? It is rumored that you are already married; will this behavior have any impact on your marriage?"

Lin Yan stared blankly at the television screen, saying nothing. She did not know why, but she found herself unexpectedly anticipating the answer to the reporter's question. She sat quietly in front of the television, even forgetting to breathe, simply staring at the screen.

Ye Ye, however, turned her head to watch Lin Yan. She wanted to discern something from her expression, but could see nothing; Lin Yan watched the television with a calm face, as if the person on screen were a complete stranger to her.

In truth, Lin Yan’s heart was not as calm as her appearance suggested; there was a faint sense of anticipation deep within.

Leng Mohan looked up, fixing a cold gaze upon the reporter. His expression remained placid, yet the icy aura he exuded seemed to freeze everyone present. The reporter was taken aback, instinctively shrinking back.

Back at the television, Lin Yan felt as if she, too, had been chilled upon seeing his indifferent face. She withdrew her gaze, lowered her head, and took a moment to compose herself. She did not know what had come over her; she had felt as if under a spell, yearning for an answer that, in the end, never came.

"Sister Lin Yan, that was Brother Mohan, wasn't it? Who is that woman? She looks a bit familiar. Is she that film star? Ziyan, I think?" Ye Ye asked, staring at Lin Yan.

"She is likely an artist from their company," Lin Yan replied coolly before standing up and heading upstairs.

Watching her retreat, Ye Ye’s lips curled into a bewitching smile. Their relationship was not as good as it appeared on the surface, or so Ye Ye thought, as Lin Yan had shown no reaction whatsoever upon seeing Leng Mohan with another woman. The smile on Ye Ye’s face widened.

Sitting in the study upstairs, Lin Yan opened her manuscript about the "seven-year itch," but her mind was in chaos. She could not make any headway; for one hour, then two, she wrote and deleted, wrote and deleted, yet she could not produce a single word.

As the sun dipped low, casting a beautiful glow, Lin Yan felt a wave of drowsiness overcome her—perhaps due to her period. Her eyes were struggling to stay open, so she simply shut down her computer and climbed into bed for a nap. After all, her profession relied entirely on inspiration; without it, she could sit before the screen all day and not write a single character.

She soon drifted into a deep sleep. She did not know how much time had passed when, in a hazy state, she felt a parched throat. She opened her eyes, intending to get a glass of water, but in her blurred state, she felt as if something were wrapped tightly around her waist.

Startled, Lin Yan snapped wide awake.

White moonlight streamed through the window. By the silver glow, she saw the man lying beside her—it was Leng Mohan.

Lin Yan couldn't help but find it amusing. In this Bilyu Garden, in this house, who else but Leng Mohan would dare to enter and lie down on this bed? She really had been overthinking things.

The cold, clear moonlight cast a hazy quality over Leng Mohan’s face. Stripped of his daytime indifference and defenses, his expression was unexpectedly gentle. In this sleep, he looked just as he had when they were children—back when their relationship was still good and innocent, when he was the older brother and she the younger sister.
