“Xiaowei.” Leng Mohan called her name, but his gaze was chilling and intimidating. He looked at Xiaowei and introduced, “This is my wife, Lin Yan. You must have heard of her, right?”

Xiaowei was momentarily taken aback. Of course she had heard—when Lin Shan worked as her assistant, she often mentioned having a sister named Lin Yan.

“Oh, uh, sorry, I have some things to attend to. I won’t see you off,” Xiaowei quickly excused herself and slipped away.

Leng Mohan handed his platinum card to the sales clerk. Lin Yan wanted to use her own card to pay instead, but when their eyes met—his dark, swirling gaze—she recalled what he had said: “Even if it’s just for show, you have to showcase your identity as a member of the Leng family.”

So she didn’t insist and let him pay.

“Wait a moment, I’ll go change out of these clothes,” Lin Yan said as she headed toward the fitting room.

“It’s fine if you want to keep them on for now. If not, we can just buy another set for the event,” Leng Mohan teased slightly.

Lin Yan rolled her eyes silently and went into the fitting room to change.

Leng Mohan’s expression, which had been smiling just moments ago, suddenly hardened into a blank stare. He turned to the sales clerk beside him and asked, “How long has this store been open?”

The clerk thought for a moment. “A little over a year, I think. It used to be in New York and moved here to Huayu just over a year ago.”

So it was indeed a little over a year ago that she had returned—right after he had relaxed his search for her.

In truth, back then he hadn’t been very determined to find her. It was only because of the pressure from the Lin family. In a way, he owed her thanks—if not for that incident, how could he have married Lin Yan? By now, he might have been her brother-in-law, and she would have been his sister-in-law.

Since those events happened two years ago and the Lin family no longer pursued the matter, he could pretend he never met Vivian at all, letting the whole situation sink beneath the waves. Then he could live a normal married life with Lin Yan.

As for Lin Shan, Vivian, and everyone else involved—they would all become part of the past, gradually forgotten. Although Lin Yan was not quite there yet, he believed she would eventually forget.

She was already loosening up, wasn’t she? Compared to when they first married, she had become much more natural around him. She was gradually beginning to pay attention to him.

Lin Yan changed back into her original T-shirt and jeans, carrying the bag with the dress inside, and followed Leng Mohan to browse a few more men’s stores.

At first, Lin Yan remained noncommittal, offering no opinions. But Leng Mohan insisted she help him pick out some clothes. Lin Yan thought that even if he bought something here, he probably wouldn’t wear it, so she casually handed him a bright yellow casual T-shirt. “Take this one.”

Leng Mohan frowned slightly as he looked at the bright yellow shirt in her hand and asked, “Are you sure this suits me?”

“Absolutely!” Lin Yan nodded.

Without trying it on, Leng Mohan turned to the clerk and said, “Wrap it up and charge it to my card.”

After leaving that store, they entered another. Leng Mohan casually flipped through a few suits that looked decent. He rarely wore casual clothes, mostly suits, which made him look serious and somewhat older. So when shopping, he instinctively focused on suits.

Bored, Lin Yan picked up a shiny silver suit and said, “This one looks good.”

Her opinion stemmed entirely from a Korean drama she had watched, where the male lead always wore a shiny silver suit and sported an unconventional look with his earrings.
