Before he could finish speaking, Leng Mohan had already grabbed him by the collar and strode briskly upstairs. Leng Mohan stood about six feet two or three inches tall, towering a full head above Zhang Yuting. Zhang stumbled as he was pulled along. "Slow down, slow down! Hey, you're almost making me fall! Don’t be so impatient. Don’t you know I have miraculous healing hands? Whatever illness comes to me, I guarantee a cure. At worst, it’ll just be a bit painful."

“Shut up,” Leng Mohan snapped, irritated by his chatter, casting him a cold glare. “Minimize her pain as much as possible.”

“Huh?” Zhang Yuting was stunned. Was this really his friend Leng Mohan? Wasn’t he usually indifferent to other people’s lives and deaths? What kind of magic had made him say something like that?

Before Zhang could fully process this, Leng Mohan had already pulled him by the collar into his and Lin Yan’s bedroom.

Lin Yan lay quietly on the bed, her complexion somewhat pale, but her lips had regained a slight flush, no longer as ashen as when he first entered.

Her eyes were tightly closed, long lashes casting a delicate curve on her eyelids, like a sleeping beauty.

“Is she Shan Shan’s younger sister?” Zhang Yuting glanced at Leng Mohan and asked.

Leng Mohan’s eyes were icy cold as he returned the look with a chilling indifference. “Mrs. Leng. I am Lin Yan, Leng Mohan’s wife.”

It was well-known that Leng Mohan had been engaged to Lin Shan. Back then, Lin Shan always quietly followed behind Leng Mohan, very obedient. So Leng Mohan’s friends were all familiar with Lin Shan and spoke highly of her. Few knew that Lin Shan had a younger sister; none of them knew Lin Yan until that incident forced her to be brought in to marry Leng Mohan.

All of Leng Mohan’s friends had only seen Lin Yan once. After their marriage, Leng Mohan rarely brought Lin Yan to any public occasions. So although Leng Mohan was renowned throughout Huaicheng, no one knew his wife Lin Yan.

At that time, everyone assumed Leng Mohan was still hung up on Lin Shan and, fearing to upset him, no one dared mention Lin Shan in his presence. Yet he acted as if nothing was wrong, continued working and socializing as usual, but never brought any other woman around.

No one could fathom Leng Mohan’s thoughts—not even his closest friends, including Zhang Yuting.

At that moment, Zhang Yuting was utterly bewildered by Leng Mohan’s behavior. In his mind, he always thought Leng Mohan married Lin Yan out of necessity, yet now it seemed he cared deeply for her. Still, he never took her to public events, suggesting that he wished to keep her existence from public recognition or familiarity.

“Zhang Yuting, do you believe I can make your family’s hospital vanish from Huaicheng by tomorrow?” Leng Mohan said coldly, fixing Zhang with a hard stare.

Zhang Yuting knew full well that he was capable and would follow through on such threats. Hastily clearing his thoughts, he took out his instruments and professionally examined Lin Yan.

Ten minutes later, he took a deep breath, somewhat annoyed. “Brother, are you serious? Do you know how rude it is to interrupt someone’s date? You made me rush here to treat someone who isn’t even sick.”

“How is that possible?” Leng Mohan was also surprised. “She was definitely running a fever just now.”

Zhang Yuting packed up his instruments, rolling his eyes. “She only had a slight fever.”

“But she said she felt unwell...” Leng Mohan was not convinced, worried that Zhang hadn’t checked thoroughly enough.
