The Aftermath of a Hangover Is Actually Like This
Her skin was as smooth as a peeled egg, and its texture was so wonderful that he was reluctant to let go.
Tracing her brows and eyes inch by inch, he whispered, "Why are you so stubborn? Is it really that hard to yield to me just once?"
It seemed that his caress made her a little ticklish. Lin Yan frowned slightly, waved her hand about aimlessly, and rolled over to continue sleeping.
Leng Mohan bent down to pick up a thick novel that had fallen onto the floor, and then picked up a large mug, from which a strong aroma of alcohol immediately wafted into the air.
Earlier, thinking she had fallen ill, he had been too anxious to notice the smell of liquor much. Now, however, he realized that the entire room was enveloped in a faint fragrance of wine.
The large mug was emitting a heavy alcoholic scent. Good grief, was this girl drinking wine out of a mug? She had actually treated his bottle of 1907 Heidsieck like water! A wry, helpless smile involuntarily tugged at his lips.
He shook his head with a smile, planted a kiss on her forehead, and grabbed his pajamas before heading into the bathroom.
The next morning, Lin Yan woke up rather early. She opened her eyes before dawn and stared blankly at the ceiling for a long while. The room was extremely quiet, save for the gentle bubbling sound of the humidifier. Her body felt profoundly relaxed, giving her the illusion that she was soaking in a hot spring, enveloped in a cozy warmth all over.
So this was what the aftermath of a heavy night of drinking felt like—no wonder so many people loved to drink, and even loved getting dead drunk. This was the conclusion Lin Yan arrived at in her heart.
She dazedly prepared to sit up, only to find an arm wrapped tightly around her waist. Turning her head slightly, she was greeted by Leng Mohan’s handsome sleeping face.
Lin Yan blinked twice before confirming that Leng Mohan was indeed sleeping right beside her. The expression on his face lacked the coldness and detachment he wore during the day; he looked pure and completely defenseless. Lin Yan reached out and lightly touched his brows and eyes. It felt so real—this was neither an illusion nor a dream. It seemed she really had dreamed of him last night, yet upon waking up in the morning, she couldn't remember a thing, save for a vague shadow flitting back and forth in her mind that she could never quite grasp.
One of his arms was tucked beneath her neck as a pillow, while the other was firmly wrapped around her waist, rendering her completely unable to move. She had no idea why he had ended up sleeping in this bed. For nearly a week, he hadn't returned to the bedroom to sleep; why had he suddenly come over? She simply couldn't figure it out.
Not daring to move for fear of waking him and causing awkwardness between them, Lin Yan could only reach for her phone to check the time. It was only five o'clock—she certainly still had time for a bit more sleep. So, she closed her eyes again, preparing to drift back into slumber.
However, the moment she closed her eyes, the man holding her opened his. His starry eyes were as bright as the constellations, entirely devoid of any morning drowsiness, making it clear that he had woken up the moment she did.
He had always been a light sleeper; the slightest movement on her part was enough for him to sense it. He simply hadn't opened his eyes because he didn't want to make her feel awkward.
Looking at her, the corners of his lips curved into an attractive arc, and then he closed his eyes once more.
Lin Yan had no idea when Leng Mohan had left. By the time she opened her eyes again, the sky was fully bright. The bedding beside her was neatly folded, and the spot next to her retained not a trace of warmth. Sunlight streamed in through the gap of the improperly drawn curtains, casting a bright stripe of light across the floor.
Lin Yan sat in a daze, feeling slightly disoriented as she tried hard to recall whether last night had truly just been a dream. Only in dreams would Leng Mohan ever appear so completely defenceless.
Suddenly, a creaking sound echoed as the bedroom door was pushed open from the outside. To her surprise, the person walking in was none other than Housekeeper Zhang. Beaming with a wide smile, she looked at Lin Yan and asked, "Yanyan, time to get up. Downstairs, breakfast has been cold for a while now."
