Chapter 32: God of the Battlefield
"True damage..."
Mo Xuanyu went over the skill description again and again, scrutinizing every detail. If one were to ask what the most formidable means of attack in this world was, true damage would undoubtedly rank at the very top, as it ignores any and all forms of armor and shields in the general sense. Once true damage touches you, all your defenses become meaningless, as the two are no longer operating on the same dimension. You can see it, but you cannot block it.
Mo Xuanyu tentatively raised his left hand. Faint black particles of mental energy emerged and, under his manipulation, began to self-cannibalize.
[You have obtained 10 Blood Soul points.]
The concept of Health Points had always been somewhat abstract; even the Sacred Geometry could only provide a general introduction. It influenced every facet of the human body, where a single movement could affect the whole. As his Health Points were consumed, Mo Xuanyu could feel his body grow slightly more fatigued, his mental energy dim, and a touch of hunger creep into his stomach.
In the palm of his hand, a small cluster of deep red particles had formed. It could not exist apart from Mo Xuanyu and could only cling to his body or his weapons. Furthermore, Blood Soul points could only be stored for a short time—they had a shelf life of approximately 24 hours, after which they would enter a phase of continuous decay.
*Knock, knock.*
Mo Xiao’s voice came from outside the door: "Teacher, is your recovery going well? Do you need me to bring you breakfast?"
"Come in," Mo Xuanyu replied, rising to open the door.
As he spread apple jam on a piece of bread, Mo Xiao continued, "A messenger from the Royal Capital arrived early this morning. The Sun King has issued a death order, demanding that we hold the main city against the Allied Forces until reinforcements arrive."
"What are the other officers' thoughts?" Mo Xuanyu took a bite of the bread; it tasted quite good, mostly because he was hungry.
"They had an argument. They originally wanted to find you to make the decision, but I blocked them." Mo Xiao shrugged. After General Karmen’s death, the only person those officers felt could take charge was Mo Xuanyu.
Mo Xuanyu finished the bread and wiped his hands. "Go notify them. Prepare the combat deployments; we will hold them off for as long as we can."
"Yes." Mo Xiao turned and left to inform the officers and commanders of the various legions.
After changing his clothes, Mo Xuanyu went to the City Hall to begin assigning tasks to the God-Chosen—reconnaissance, defense, trap setting, and so on. During this time, a few God-Chosen with higher Charisma stats approached him, seemingly trying to raise his favorability. Mo Xuanyu gave them a perfunctory response and paid them no further mind.
"Um... Commander Mora, when can we expect our support to arrive?" Red Lotus Guild leader Chi Ming hesitated before approaching Mo Xuanyu.
Hearing this, Mo Xuanyu tilted his head, chin in hand, thinking for a moment before looking at Chi Ming earnestly. "Frankly speaking, our support may never come at all, unless His Majesty has prepared some contingency I am unaware of. So, do your best and work hard. This is likely to be our final battle."
Mo Xuanyu patted Chi Ming on the shoulder in encouragement.
"I see... Thank you..." Chi Ming looked into those beautiful, lake-blue eyes and could only nod helplessly, knowing that a bitter battle lay ahead.
...
"Kill!!"
Outside the main city of the Moon God River, the sky was filled with artillery fire, and the sounds of slaughter were incessant. Countless soldiers fell, only for those behind them to take their place; crimson blood soaked every inch of the soil. The Sun Knight Order fought with everything they had, breaking the Allied Forces' formations multiple times and crushing enemy battle lines, achieving a casualty ratio that could only be called a miracle.
However, under the command of Peter Manchester, the soldiers of the Allied Forces were always able to quickly reorganize and use sheer numbers to grind those supernatural knights to death on the battlefield. The gap in manpower, coupled with Peter’s terrifying, peak-level field command, meant that no matter how valiant these knights were—each capable of holding off a thousand—they ultimately fell into the pools of blood with lingering regrets.
In just two hours, the defensive lines outside the main city were breached one by one. The only area where the Kingdom's army held an advantage was the eastern front.
In the midst of the warring zone, a single figure moved like a god of slaughter, cutting down every soldier and God-Chosen who approached with a single blade. The pile of corpses at his feet was countless, intimidating those soldiers who still dared to advance.
This person was Mo Xuanyu.
He had changed into a dark, stain-resistant military uniform, wearing black gloves, his jet-black hair tied behind his head. Although the black was practical, it could not withstand the sheer number of enemies he faced; his coat was almost dyed a dark crimson by blood.
His sapphire-blue pupils were cold and ruthless. As he swept his gaze across the surroundings, the icy killing intent radiating from him caused the nearby soldiers to feel fear from the very depths of their souls. They even abandoned their weapons and began to flee. Mo Xuanyu had single-handedly created a vacuum zone.
"Kill him together! He’s the commander-in-chief of the Kingdom's army! The contribution points will be at least 3,000 each after the split!!"
Following a shout from one of the God-Chosen, dozens of others followed him in a charge toward Mo Xuanyu. They were all fearless solo players or small squads. In the judgment of Sacred Geometry, killing an enemy commander yielded a massive amount of contribution points, which was why there was an unusually high number of God-Chosen on Mo Xuanyu’s front.
Take a gamble, and a bicycle becomes a motorcycle; there was never a shortage of reckless hotheads in the Sacred Geometry.
Seeing this, Mo Xuanyu sighed helplessly. With a spinning kick, he sent a charging heavy-armored tank flying, the man’s eyes rolling back into his head, life or death unknown. He then raised his Nightmare Moon Blade and plunged into the midst of the God-Chosen. Within a few breaths, the heads of several God-Chosen flew high into the air. Before they died, they still wore expressions of shock and terror.
[Your Blood Soul points have been accumulated.] The prompt from the Sacred Geometry made Mo Xuanyu’s hands itch.
He spun his Nightmare Moon Blade, deflecting incoming arrows, and locked his gaze on a God-Chosen in the distance who was fond of shooting from the shadows. This guy had ambushed Mo Xuanyu several times, but because he hid in the crowd, shooting an arrow and then changing positions, Mo Xuanyu found it difficult to trouble him.
"Watch my spear strike like a dragon!"
A melee God-Chosen suddenly lunged at Mo Xuanyu, wielding a long spear with a menacing aura!
Mo Xuanyu stood his ground. Hearing the shout, he glanced at him coldly and reached out a hand. "Give it to me."
"Huh?" The God-Chosen froze. "You mean my spear? This... this isn't possible, is it? We're enemies, aren't we?"
*Bang!!*
Mo Xuanyu couldn't be bothered with small talk. He lifted a foot, kicked the man away, and snatched the long spear from his hand.
