Chapter 52: Little White Transforms into a Cute Little Boy
The next morning, a cry that could shake heaven and earth rang out from the Clearwater Pavilion.
“Ah!!! Whose child is this? Qian’er, did you have a baby?!”
Still groggy from sleep, Su Qingcheng had just opened her eyes when she spotted Yuan Qian’er holding an adorable little boy. She nearly jumped out of her skin.
“Oh, Qingcheng, don’t make such a racket. I’m trying to sleep! I’m exhausted!” Yuan Qian’er mumbled, still unaware of what was going on, and continued dozing.
“No, wake up! Why is there a child here?” Su Qingcheng shook her.
“A child is a child. I’m sleepy. What? A child? A—” Yuan Qian’er’s eyes flew open. She stared at the little boy in her arms and cried out, “Ah!!! Wh-what’s going on? Whose child is this? Why is he in my bed—and why isn’t he wearing any clothes?!”
“How should I know? I was about to ask you! Did you sleepwalk out in the middle of the night and steal someone’s child? How else would he have ended up here? I never knew you had that sort of hobby!” Su Qingcheng said, poking Yuan Qian’er on the head.
Just then, the bedroom door burst open. Murong Xuan rushed in and grabbed Su Qingcheng. “Wife, what happened? Why were you screaming so desperately? Who hurt you? Tell me, and I’ll beat him to a pulp!”
“Oh, you idiot. I wasn’t screaming desperately. I was startled!”
“Startled? What could possibly startle you so early in the morning?”
“Look! Qian’er must have sleepwalked last night and brought back someone’s child!” Su Qingcheng pointed at Yuan Qian’er.
“Hm? A child? Let me see! Wow, wife, he’s adorable! Let’s have one too, all right?”
“Go play somewhere else. Have a child with whoever you like—I don’t have time!”
“Qian’er, what happened?” Mo Yiran entered the room, with Xuanyuan Feng following behind him.
“Uh, well… I woke up this morning and found an adorable little boy in my bed. I have no idea where he came from. Look!” Yuan Qian’er handed the little fellow in her arms to Mo Yiran.
“Why not wake him and ask? Though I have to say, that kid can really sleep. He’s still out cold after all that noise!” Xuanyuan Feng remarked.
“Right, we can wake him up. He looks about two or three, so he should be able to talk.” Yuan Qian’er got up and went over to Mo Yiran. She patted the little boy’s cheek. “Hey, little cutie, wake up. Do you know you’ve been kidnapped? Stop sleeping and get up! Come on, little rascal, time to get your milk!”
The little boy stirred, slowly opened his eyes, and rubbed them. “Master, didn’t I just have my milk last night? Uncle said I can only have it once a month!”
At the familiar voice, Yuan Qian’er stared in astonishment. “Master? Th-this… Could you be Little White?”
“Master, don’t you recognize me?” Little White gazed at Yuan Qian’er with big, watery eyes, looking utterly forlorn, like a poor little thing who had been abandoned.
“Ah, you really are Little White? Little White, how did you turn into a little boy?” Su Qingcheng asked.
“Hm?” Little White glanced at himself, tilted his head, and gave a cute little nod. “Sister Su, let me think.”
“But that can’t be right. I remember the old man said Little White would need to drink blood for a whole year before he could take human form. How did it happen so soon?” Yuan Qian’er said thoughtfully.
“Qian’er, it must have something to do with your blood,” Mo Yiran said calmly. “Master mentioned before that people with Yin blood come in two grades, high and low. The purest, most yin type of high-grade Yin blood can bring about rapid changes in a Nine-Tailed Spirit Fox.”
