Chapter 10: Erasing All Traces!
Zhou Quan stood before the tall, full-length mirror, scrutinizing his reflection.
After transforming into the Wolf King, his height had surged to two point four meters, making the mirror struggle to contain his frame. Thick, gray fur covered his body, thinning only around his lower abdomen. His hands had morphed into massive claws; a single clench was enough to twist iron bars like wire.
The most dramatic transformation was in his head. Enormous fangs protruded from his mouth, and a thick mane cascaded down the back of his neck—he was, in every sense, a giant wolf, radiating raw, untamed savagery.
"Awoo—" Zhou Quan let out a soft howl, a strange sensation stirring within him. He touched his chin and muttered, "Pretty imposing. I definitely look like a boss character."
He took a deep breath, and his body rapidly shrank, much like a deflating balloon, the fur on his skin shedding away as he did so. Soon, he returned to his human form. His clothes had been shredded during the transformation, leaving him completely naked.
He looked at the wreckage scattered across the room and retched. While transformed, influenced by the Wolf King’s physiology, he had found the act of tearing people apart exhilarating and cathartic. But now, back in human form, the sight of severed limbs and gore made him feel nauseated.
Yet, he had no choice but to clean it up. This was his home, not some remote wilderness. Calculating the time, his younger sister might wake up tomorrow, and if she were to see this scene...
Zhou Quan pulled the silver dagger that the Club President had thrown from the sofa and examined it. The blade bore exquisite, wavy patterns reminiscent of Damascus steel; the moonlight danced along the ripples, making the edge appear razor-sharp. It was a fine blade.
He looked down at the President’s corpse, a flicker of hesitation crossing his face.
"Sigh," he let out a long breath.
*Flush!*
*Flush!*
*Flush!*
Inside the villa in the dead of night, the sound of a toilet flushing echoed repeatedly, as if the plumbing had broken.
...
*Click-clack! Click!*
*Click-clack!*
The sound of high heels striking the floorboards was incessant. The guard at the entrance of the morgue blinked, wondering who would be coming to the morgue in the middle of the night. He stared toward the corner at the end of the hallway.
The footsteps grew closer, and soon, a woman with deathly pale skin emerged from behind the corner.
"What are you doing here?" the guard asked, his brows knitted together as he reached for the stun baton at his waist.
"Just you?" The woman offered a charming smile.
Her enchanting red lips split toward the sides of her cheeks, revealing a row of jagged, uneven fangs that extended all the way to her earlobes.
The guard’s face filled with terror. *Holy crap! A ghost!*
He scrambled to pull out his stun baton, but before he could, the woman was already standing before him.
"Ah!"
The scream was cut short.
The woman wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth and pushed open the door to the morgue. She scanned the room and quickly found her target.
[Luo Anni]
A tag hung from the corpse's toe. The woman lifted the white sheet covering the body and frowned involuntarily at the gruesome sight beneath.
"Poor Anni."
As she spoke, she opened her handbag and withdrew a translucent purple syringe. Tiny symbols were etched into the syringe, even onto the needle itself. The woman inserted the needle into Luo Anni’s heart and slowly pulled the plunger. The symbols on the syringe glowed faintly, but when the plunger reached the end, there was nothing inside.
The woman frowned and tried again. The result was unchanged.
She put away the syringe and pulled out her phone to dial a number.
"My Lord, Anni’s werewolf blood is gone. Not a single drop remains."
"The child is also gone."
"Understood. There won't be any more problems this time."
Just then, another person walked into the morgue. He had a kindly face and wore a cross around his neck—it was Father Charles.
"Good evening, Charles." The woman hung up the phone and greeted him.
Charles smiled. "Good evening, Lynn."
He walked over to Luo Anni’s corpse, raised the cross from his chest, and whispered, "Anni, open your eyes and speak with your old friends."
As the words fell, Luo Anni’s eyelids trembled twice.
A medical miracle occurred. The lifeless Luo Anni actually opened her eyes and sat up on the gurney. Her gaze was dazed.
*Where am I? My body feels so awkward, I can't muster any strength, and my mouth tastes like nothing. I remember...*
"Anni, what happened last night?" Charles asked slowly. "Who was it that killed you?"
Luo Anni regained her senses. She saw the two people before her and heard Charles's question.
"I died?" Luo Anni asked, startled.
She reached up to touch her head, her fingertips feeling jagged pits, depressions, and tears everywhere. Her heart sank immediately.
Charles nodded. "Lynn and I waited for your ritual last night until dawn, but there was no sign of you. We only found out later that you had been killed and the child had gone missing..."
"It was a lunatic," Luo Anni interrupted Charles.
"I couldn't see his face, and I couldn't even determine his height because he was shrouded in black mist. He also used quicklime and pepper spray to obstruct my vision."
"But I’m certain he was a lunatic," Luo Anni said bitterly.
"A lunatic?" Charles asked, puzzled.
Luo Anni nodded vigorously, her emotions spiraling out of control. "When he was killing me, he wouldn't stop apologizing! He kept saying he was sorry, that he was wrong!"
"The louder he yelled, the harder he hit. He beat me to death, alive!"
"Beat me to death!" Luo Anni roared.
"Calm down, Anni." Charles took her hand, attempting to soothe the corpse’s agitation. He whispered, "Tell me exactly what happened last night."
Luo Anni gripped Charles’s hand tightly. She replied with venomous resentment, "I was performing the ritual as planned when that lunatic burst in. Aside from the constant apologies, he said nothing."
"But I remember that the deity had already turned its gaze upon us; the ritual could not be interrupted."
"Did anything else happen afterward?"
Charles shook his head. "No, nothing happened."
"Is there anything else besides that?" he asked again.
Luo Anni shook her head, her face filled with hatred. "I don't know anything else. Charles, Lynn, you must avenge me!"
Charles nodded.
The next second, Luo Anni’s body stiffened and fell backward. Charles pulled the white sheet back over her.
"There are no leads. Trying to find that person is like looking for a needle in a haystack," Charles sighed softly.
The woman called Lynn nodded. "I can't help with the search. Since Anni’s ritual failed, I must make up for it."
"In three days, I will hold a concert."
"I will use Soul-Snatching Bugs to manipulate the minds of those attending the concert and conduct a mass sacrifice."
Lynn brushed her hair back from her forehead, revealing an alluring, captivating smile.
Charles nodded slightly. "Thank you for your hard work. Leave the search to me; I will definitely find him."
