Chapter 56: Magnificent and Flawless—the Perfect Person!

Fu Qingshan gripped his heavy saber with both hands, staring straight ahead, his heart barren and desolate. His sword was named “Enemy Breaker.”
When he first obtained this blade in his youth, his spirit was high and lofty, dreaming that one day he would wield it to shatter all foes under heaven.
But now, middle-aged, he was still only a squad leader.
In today’s battle, he couldn’t even break through the enemy’s armor, let alone shatter them.
Two comrades had died gruesomely one after another, and he could only watch helplessly.
The barrier of the transcendent was not something mere effort could break. No matter how skilled with the blade, with such poor transcendent mediums, his dreams remained unreachable.
“Cough…” Fu Qingshan covered his mouth.
He raised his hand; his palm was stained crimson.
He gave a wry smile, lifted his head, and said nonchalantly, “I’m ready. Let me out.”
...
A cold wind swept across the ground like drifting spider webs, wrapping layers upon layers around him.
“Courage is the ticket to ascend to heaven. You cowards will descend to hell after death.” Eurens glanced around, the green fire flickering in his skull, uttering a venomous curse.
“Does that mean my comrades will go to heaven?” A steady voice came from a shadowed corner.
Fu Qingshan appeared out of nowhere.
He stood calmly, gripping his saber, meeting Eurens’ gaze without flinching.
Eurens turned slowly, replying, “Courage alone is not enough. Too foolish a man cannot find the path to heaven.”
“So you remain stuck in the mortal world?” Fu Qingshan raised an eyebrow.
“Haha!” Eurens chuckled hoarsely.
He said playfully, “Let me guess, you came out here to buy time or to draw my attention.”
Fu Qingshan’s expression remained unreadable.
At that moment, Eurens glanced toward the Divine Remnant; the darkness shrouding it had shrunk to a small patch, ready to dissipate at any moment.
“Time’s almost up. I’ve grown tired of this cat-and-mouse game,” Eurens said to Fu Qingshan. “I’ll give you a swift end.”
Upon hearing this, Fu Qingshan went on high alert.
He raised his saber with both hands, holding his breath and staring intently at Eurens, not even blinking.
Whoosh!
Green light surged violently, spreading from Eurens’ skull over his entire body.
In the blink of an eye, Eurens was enveloped in a raging green flame!
Fu Qingshan caught only a trace of a shadow before a tremendous force threw him off balance, pain exploding through his internal organs as if hit head-on by a fully loaded truck.
Thud! Fu Qingshan’s body collapsed to the ground like a broken sack.
He opened his eyes, sensing the life within him fading.
Is this how it ends?
In a daze, voices from many years ago echoed deep in his heart.
“Others swing their swords a hundred times; I swing mine a thousand! I will be stronger than anyone!”
“Senior Brother Qingshan! You’re so diligent!”

“First place in the swordsmanship contest! Fu Qingshan!”
“You all should learn from Qingshan!”
“With this blade, I will shatter all enemies under heaven!”
“One day, I will make everyone proud to call me their friend!”
Fu Qingshan gave a bitter smile.
I’m so sorry, so terribly sorry to that shining youth I once was…
“Flying Head Curse!” Zhai Qingwu appeared out of nowhere. Without checking Fu Qingshan’s condition, she raised her hand and pointed at Eurens.
Eurens’ body stiffened.
The green flames instantly extinguished; his skull leapt from his shoulders.
At that moment, Li Muchi emerged halfway from behind Eurens, pressing down on Eurens’ head and firing without hesitation.
Bang!
A milky white streak of light struck Eurens’ skull, colliding fiercely with the green flames wrapping it.
The green light faltered as Eurens’ skull flew toward Zhou Quan.
Everything happened in a flash!
Zhou Quan watched the skull flying at him, raising his piercing Cloud-Piercing Arrow.
Victory or defeat!
All hinged on this moment.
Time seemed to slow.
The skull drew closer and closer, but suddenly paused mid-air, like a stretched rubber band snapping taut, refusing to come closer.
It then flared green and violently bounced back.
Zhou Quan was stunned.
He pulled the trigger again, releasing another Cloud-Piercing Arrow.
The arrow shot forth but could not catch up to Eurens’ skull. Under Zhou Quan’s gaze, it made a sharp ninety-degree turn, trailing a faint blue glow as it disappeared into the pitch-black clouds.
Zhou Quan’s heart sank.
Eurens reattached his skull and slapped Li Muchi with his free hand.
“Whoa!” Li Muchi spat a mouthful of blood.
His face pale, he retreated into the shadows, aided by Eurens’ force.
Eurens looked around.
“An extraordinary performance!” He applauded, the flames in his eyes trembling with excitement.
“Simply magnificent! I will remember you all forever!”
The rapid sequence of events had unsettled even him.
Fortunately, in the end, he prevailed.
Listening to Eurens’ voice, Zhou Quan felt as if he had plunged into an icy abyss.
They had failed.
Fu Qingshan lay motionless, Li Muchi wounded and retreating, and his Cloud-Piercing Arrow had missed…

“This is it!” Zhai Qingwu’s face showed despair.
A wisp of green flame floated above her head like a beacon marking her position.
“A mere trick to counter curses,” Eurens said with a smile. “Beautiful lady, you cannot escape my palm.”
Is there truly no way out?
Zhou Quan stared at Eurens, his heart heavy.
No wonder this man had survived a thousand years—his power was suffocating, seemingly flawless and invincible!
But is there really nothing I can do?
In the evil god’s simulations, I killed Eurens. Has Eurens grown so strong that he can break the prophecy?
Or is there still something I have overlooked?
What could it be?
Zhou Quan silently reviewed what he had left.
Most of his tools were used up; only one Cloud-Piercing Arrow remained, but there was no chance to fire it.
His talents, “Rewarding Evil and Punishing Good” and “Weapons of Mass Destruction,” were useless now.
Eurens did not chant spells, so “Let’s Speak Chinese” was useless too.
Only “Slow Motion Master” and “Heavenly Noble” remained.
Zhou Quan’s eyes grew resolute.
He slipped his hand into the inner pocket of his suit, took out an arrow, and loaded it into the Cloud-Piercing Arrow’s quiver.
He took a step, then another, running faster and faster, heading straight for the seemingly assuredly victorious Eurens.
“What are you doing?” Zhai Qingwu shouted.
Without turning his head, Zhou Quan said, “Kill him!”
“Are you crazy?” Zhai Qingwu’s eyes widened in disbelief.
Kill Eurens?
Just run up and kill him?
Zhou Quan, an ordinary human, charged alone toward Eurens like a moth drawn to a flame.
Eurens smirked mockingly.
He did nothing, watching Zhou Quan approach step by step.
Then he lifted a foot.
Swish—
A heavy iron boot grazed Zhou Quan’s body, narrowly missing a strike that could have sent him flying.
Eurens looked surprised.
Zhou Quan froze oddly in place, as if caught in a glitch, narrowly evading the blow.
From Zhou Quan’s blind spot, a shadow stood motionless, quietly watching him and Eurens.
