Ji Yuanjing glanced at Old Master Ji and, seeing his nod of approval, pulled Ji Yu outside. Inside the room, only Chi Mu and the old master remained. Chi Mu did not rush to apply the acupuncture needles; instead, she circled the room once, then asked the old master, “Were the items in your room arranged by a feng shui master?”

“My daughter hired one. She said he’s a famous feng shui grandmaster, Tang Xuanzi, who would drive away evil spirits and cure illness for me.”

“This Tang Xuanzi is indeed formidable. What appears to be a ‘Qiankun Cangsheng Formation’ meant to expel evil and heal is actually a deadly ‘Netherworld Dharmapala Formation.’ As for the formation’s eye—” Chi Mu pondered briefly, then took out three Qianlong copper coins she found at Panjiayuan and held them in her palm to divine.

“Under the Qian trigram, the poison resides in the north.”

She looked up toward a piece of Ming-Qing floral porcelain displayed in the cabinet.

That’s it!

Chi Mu took it out and casually placed it on the floor. Then she said to Old Master Ji, “Let’s begin. After the acupuncture is finished, I will answer your questions.”

Outside the door, Ji Chengye, Su Qing, and Ji Wan’er came to see the old master but were stopped by Ji Yuanjing at the entrance.

“Dad, Mom, Auntie, Chi Mu is performing acupuncture on Grandpa. We can’t disturb her.”

“Chi Mu? The new doctor?” Ji Yu answered eagerly, “She’s the one who saved my life!”

Ji Wan’er sneered coldly. “Are your circumstances the same as the old master’s?! Nowadays, anyone and everyone thinks they can treat him. Ji Yuanjing, Ji Yu is immature, but can’t you tell right from wrong? Step aside!”

Ji Yuanjing refused.

Ji Wan’er pushed him directly. “Ji Yuanjing, how dare you block me?”

Su Qing stepped in to persuade, “Yuanjing, going in won’t interfere with the acupuncture. Listen to me and let your aunt inside.”

Ji Yuanjing shook off Ji Wan’er’s hand, his expression cold and firm. “If you barge in and disturb Chi Mu’s acupuncture, and something happens to Grandpa, can you take responsibility?”

“Why can’t she have people watch her acupuncture? Are you really going to entrust Grandpa to a stranger? If anything happens to him inside, will you be accountable?”

Ji Yuanjing said nothing but showed no intention of stepping aside.

Ji Wan’er laughed bitterly. “Brother, you really raised a fine son! Even I, his aunt, have to watch your son’s face in the Ji family!”

Ji Chengye’s face turned awkward; he joined the effort to persuade Ji Yuanjing to open the door.

Inside the room, Chi Mu ignored the commotion outside and focused intently on finishing the last needle. As Old Master Ji slowly closed his eyes, she let out a long breath. Then, wiping the sweat from her forehead, she called out, “Let them in.”

Ji Yuanjing stepped aside.

Ji Wan’er pushed the door open and, seeing the old master unconscious, shouted angrily, “What have you done to my father?!” Then, noticing the Ming-Qing floral porcelain in Chi Mu’s hand, her face suddenly changed. “That vase cost me forty million! How dare you steal it?!”

Chi Mu raised an eyebrow and said, “That vase is a burial artifact, filled with malevolent energy and bound with protective seals. Would I risk my life stealing it?”

“You’re talking nonsense!”

“Whether I speak nonsense or not, you know the truth in your heart.”

Ji Wan’er’s eyes flickered nervously for a moment before she straightened her back and snapped, “I know what! First, explain why you knocked my father unconscious! Ji Yuanjing, look at the people you bring in!”

Ji Yuanjing was also worried for Old Master Ji, but unlike Ji Wan’er’s domineering manner, he quietly asked, “Chi Mu, what’s wrong with my grandfather?”

“He’s fine. Once I smash this vase, he will wake up.”

Chi Mu raised the vase. Ji Wan’er immediately lunged to snatch it away. “That’s forty million! You dare to break it?”

Chi Mu released her grip and smashed it.

With a loud crash, everyone in the room was stunned speechless.

Only when Old Master Ji suddenly opened his eyes and coughed out a mouthful of dark blood did they snap back to reality and rushed to his side.

“Dad! Grandpa!”

Ji Wan’er was the first to check on him. “Why is he coughing blood? Dad, are you okay?”

Old Master Ji had never felt so light before.

It was as if a great mountain pressing on him had been lifted, his mind now clear and sharp.

When Ji Wan’er insulted Chi Mu, he sternly rebuked, “Silence! Miss Chi saved my life. You shall show her respect!”

His voice was strong and healthy, without a trace of illness.

Ji Chengye rejoiced, “Dad, you’re better?”

“Yes.”

Old Master Ji’s gaze swept over everyone and settled on Chi Mu. “Miss Chi, thank you for your hard work.”

Then he instructed Ji Yuanjing, “Go bring the Tianshan Snow Lotus for Miss Chi.”

“You want to give the Tianshan Snow Lotus to that girl?” Ji Wan’er exclaimed in shock. “That’s priceless!”

“Miss Chi saved my life. Not only is it priceless, I would give her the entire Ji family if I could.”

“You’re crazy!” Ji Wan’er was speechless with anger.

Chi Mu stepped forward and spoke openly before everyone, “The one who’s crazy is not Old Master Ji but someone in your Ji family.”

“What do you mean?” Ji Chengye and Su Qing asked in unison.

Chi Mu said, “Tang Xuanzi set up a Netherworld Dharmapala Formation in this room, which causes the victim to suffer recurring illnesses, dragging them toward death in agony. The formation’s eye was the Ming-Qing floral porcelain I just smashed.”

After a pause, she looked at the dark-faced Ji Wan’er and continued, “The person harming Old Master Ji must know his birth details and be able to catch him off guard. As for who it is—”

“Stop this nonsense! Netherworld formation? Formation’s eye? I’ve never even heard of such things!” Ji Wan’er shouted.

“I never said you were involved. Why get so upset?”

“Am I upset?! What a joke! Do you think anyone in the Ji family would harm the old master themselves?! You’re an outsider, stop spreading lies and sowing discord!”

Ji Wan’er’s face flushed red with emotion.

Chi Mu looked at her, seeing her attempt to cover up the truth, and smiled faintly. “Old Master Ji, I am here to treat illness, not to investigate. I will not meddle in your family affairs. Farewell.”

At that moment, Ji Yuanjing returned with the Tianshan Snow Lotus.

Old Master Ji was ill, not demented; he understood Chi Mu’s meaning perfectly.

Suppressing his anger, he said, “Miss Chi, you won’t be staying for dinner today. I shall visit you another day to express my thanks properly. Yuanjing, see Miss Chi out.”

Ji Yuanjing went to escort Chi Mu out, with Ji Yu following behind.

He climbed into his new prized blue Bugatti, snatched Chi Mu from Ji Yuanjing’s hands, and pressed the accelerator, speeding out of the Ji mansion.

“Benefactor, I want to become your apprentice!”

Chi Mu quietly tightened her seatbelt. “I don’t take apprentices.”

“Saving my life deserves more than that. If you won’t be my master, then you’ll have to be my wife,” Ji Yu said sadly. “But I’m not worthy of you.”

Chi Mu looked at him in surprise. “Please speak plainly.”

“All right. My brother has looked down on me since childhood. You’re the most formidable person I’ve ever met. I want to team up with you, take a shortcut, and make him see me in a new light—bow down to me!”
