Volume 1, Chapter 32: Jealousy

The first pale light of dawn slipped gently through the cracks around the window, casting a warm golden veil over the dining table.
Yan Xiyue took a small sip of milk. Its delicate fragrance spread across her tongue, yet it did little to dispel the doubts in her heart.
After finally forcing down the soup dumpling in her mouth, she raised her eyes toward Duan Wuhen, her gaze full of inquiry.
“By the way, what did you go out to do last night? I noticed you didn’t come back until midnight.”
Duan Wuhen’s heart tightened slightly, and the events of the previous night rose unbidden in his mind.
“This girl was watching me all night yesterday. Luckily, I left early. Otherwise, if she had held me up, how would I have managed the important matter?”
“What are you trying to do?” Lin Hao asked, suddenly sensing that something was wrong as he watched Su Hao advance step by step, his eyes rimmed with red.
When he had unleashed this move just now, several possibilities had flashed through his mind. Perhaps Zhou Jun would beg for mercy and plead for his life; perhaps he would be unable to withstand it and die beneath the divine thunder; or perhaps he would suddenly produce some extraordinary treasure capable of neutralizing the attack.
“Do you remember what I told you last time? Heh…” Nineteen had already charged directly before Bright Heaven and Earth. He stared coldly at the fat man and let out a mocking laugh.
And it would have been one thing to schedule Song Qingyu’s song for release at eight o’clock, but you even had to help promote it and steal Qin Lang’s spotlight.
He tapped the tablet in his hand and aimed it at Shu Jiao. A beam of light swept across her body, vanishing after only three seconds.
Ordinarily, when a fighter aircraft wants to attack a ground target, whether with machine guns or bombs, it must lower its altitude.
As the saying goes, intent arises from the heart, and the body follows the will. The Divine Foot Technique grants cultivators the power to pierce through illusion and move freely without hindrance.
As for the matter of training an army—heh, he had already thought of a way to resolve it long ago.
As he spoke, an immortal sword with restrained divine radiance suddenly appeared in his hand. He raised it and pointed it toward Wuchen.

Taking advantage of this opportunity to show his face and flatter the Venombody Clan might even earn him a promotion and a fortune. Why would he refuse?
Above the Supreme Palace stood a magnificent hall. Before it stretched an empty square, with an arena marked out at its center.
At that same moment, when the elevator doors opened, the several of them all felt a chill that seemed to pierce their skin.
Physical Defense: Increases a summoned beast’s resistance to physical attacks. For every level cultivated, damage to HP from physical attacks is reduced by 2% plus 5 points.
I was just about to ask what was going on. Then a cock crowed, my whole body began to drift and sway, and I fell into a deep sleep.
The Straw Hat King, Three-Blade, swung his long saber and blocked the wolf-toothed club. Then he fired again with his left hand, sending out two more beams of light.
But what Charles de Gaulle held was, after all, merely an government in exile. Every country in the world apart from Britain recognized Vichy France as the legitimate French government.
“I can consider the deal you proposed, but what if you go back on your word afterward?” Bai Liuli asked cautiously, watching the Swordsman.
Xiang Yu seized the legs of the great cauldron with both hands. With a thunderous shout, he lifted it into the air, though his steps staggered and much of the water inside spilled out.
“You’re not planning to use this thing to blow up the entire base, are you?” After staring at it for a long while, Lena suddenly began to wonder whether the old man before her had gone mad or senile. The thought seemed utterly absurd.
Yet after witnessing Qi Bao cast a spell that stripped the City Lord Luo Sheng of his cultivation, Dong Qingling found herself beginning to believe him.
The two women began, heedless of everything around them, to imagine what they would do if they could survive together. It had been a long time since they had spoken so harmoniously. Their words flowed back and forth, and time slipped away unnoticed.
Therefore, in the face of the present crisis, if they were unwilling to use their hidden trump card, asking Grandmaster Qi Bao to intervene would indeed be a good idea.
“So… did you come here today to reserve the whole place?” Lin Xiyan blinked. She had suspected as much from the beginning, but had been reluctant to ask.
However, because it remained within the range of Lin Huang’s domain, every one of its attacks was easily evaded by him. Moreover, after each attack, Lin Huang took the opportunity to widen the distance between them a little more. After several attempts, it simply gave up attacking.

Su Cheng had no inclination to guess what she was thinking. He simply decided to let matters take their course and do nothing at all.
No one could answer Qi Bao’s doubts, but Qi Bao believed that one day he would eventually understand everything.
Long Yun suddenly remembered something. If it had to pass through so many security inspections, how had Julia, an outsider from the Sky Curtain Company, managed to enter the Cube?
The more Chen Tian thought about it, the less plausible it seemed. Su Cheng might have a great deal of money, but would he truly be willing to squander so much of it?
Had Zhuang Wangu been here, he would certainly have recognized this man. They were old acquaintances indeed: Shuibo Tianhao of the Morning Sun Realm. Shuibo Tianhao had long opposed Zhuang Wangu in secret, joining forces with experts from every faction in preparation for a confrontation with the Northern Sacred Emperor. Now that he had finally ventured out in person, he intended to kill one of Zhuang Wangu’s disciples.
With every blow Li Song brought down, golden light rose from the Buddhist character and caught the Samsara Staff. It seemed intent on blocking Li Song, yet also on forcing all his strength back against him.
Kanon’s normally troublesome temper surprisingly failed to flare up. At his words, she swiftly withdrew the hand she had been holding straight out before Wudi, and two crimson flushes rose sharply across her cheeks.
Li Song now possessed the treasures Primordial Sword, Samsara Staff, and Heaven-and-Earth Seal. The Primordial Sword and Heaven-and-Earth Seal specialized in offense, while the Samsara Staff was excellent at both offense and defense, though still somewhat more inclined toward attack. As a result, Li Song was sorely lacking a defensive treasure.
Li Song gazed at the expectant eyes of Emperor Mu Taiyi and the gathered demons, his thoughts churning. For a moment, he found himself somewhat dazed.
In truth, the world was relatively settled now, far better than it had been several centuries earlier. In those darkest years, the slaughter had run red with blood, corpses had piled into mountains, and skeletons had formed ridges and forests. Living people had even been stripped of their flesh, while human meat was boiled and roasted fresh. How could the word “惨烈” possibly convey the full horror of it?
“Three heads won’t do. Thirty might be enough!” Madonna was insatiably greedy, but she also knew she could not press too hard. After joking around for a while, she eventually released Xiao Han.
Houtu had not expected Li Song to ask such a question. In recent days, she had even forced herself not to imagine the Wu Clan confronting humanity. But now that matters had reached this point, she would ultimately have to face it.
Although the two had known each other for only a short time, everything Yun Yao had said to her had come from the heart. Sun Yu therefore regarded her as a confidante. Yet whenever she imagined the possibility that the two might fail to reach an understanding and come to blows, she could not help wondering which side she ought to help.
