Chapter Sixty: How Is It That You Can't Even Match Half the Achievements of Your Own Brother?
Page 1/3
By this time, Lin Yin had long since left Jiayuguan. To the world, he seemed to be quietly concealing his achievements and fame, but to him, some matters were far more important than attending the celebration.
In a residential building in Tianhe City, Lin Yin sat somewhat uneasily in the living room. Although he appeared calm, watching the television, the intermittent sobbing from the inner room occasionally darkened his gaze.
After a long while, the door to the inner room opened. A beautiful girl, about thirteen or fourteen years old, wearing a pale yellow home outfit, appeared. Tear stains still marked her cheeks where she had not yet wiped them away.
Forcing a smile, the girl poured a cup of tea for Lin Yin and softly bowed her head. "I'm so sorry to have made you witness this."
Her name was Huang Yin, the younger sister of a fallen warrior. The siblings had depended on each other, but now she was an orphan with no kin left in the world.
Lin Yin was silent, contemplating for a moment before turning and entering the cramped kitchen. Using the only salt, soy sauce, vinegar, and a few eggs he had, he prepared a plate of scrambled eggs.
His cooking skills were excellent, honed during the times he was punished with fasting at the Lin family Martial King Mansion.
The television showed scenes from the Jiayuguan celebration, and the voices of Xia Changsheng and Lin Zhengyang could be heard.
"Our victory this time is infinitely glorious... many sacrifices were worthwhile... our human race will grow ever stronger..."
The girl had tried to maintain composure, but the moment she tasted the scrambled eggs, she burst into tears.
"Brother, sob... brother, sob sob..."
The intermittent voices from the television mingled with the girl's crying as she ate, making Lin Yin at the kitchen door full of helpless pity.
The bloodstained family letter lay quietly beside Huang Yin.
"I have to pack up..." After finishing the scrambled eggs and wiping away her tears, the girl forced a smile at Lin Yin. "Thank you, brother!"
"Where are you going?" Lin Yin asked.
Knock, knock, knock! There was a knock at the door, followed by the voice of a middle-aged woman outside.
"Huang Wan! You owe two months' rent and still haven’t paid? If you don’t pay today, don’t blame me for breaking the lock!"
"If you can’t afford it, then don’t rent! A few hundred a month, whining like a pauper!"
Listening to the curses outside, the girl smiled at Lin Yin with a pale expression.
Soon, she had packed all her belongings.
"Is this all you’re taking?"
Lin Yin looked at the bag of old clothes and two pairs of worn shoes and finally couldn’t hold back.
"Come with me."
"Huh?"
Lin Yin opened the door and casually stuffed a wad of cash into the middle-aged woman’s mouth to silence her.

"What’s your name?"
"Huang Yin, Yin with the ‘treasure roof’ radical..."
At Villa No. 17 by the riverside, Jiang Zixun opened the door and was stunned to see the young man and a little girl standing there.
"You weren’t at the celebration?" Jiang Zixun had just returned home and hadn’t yet taken off her battle armor. The bloodstains on the armor frightened Huang Yin, who shyly hid behind Lin Yin.
"No."
"Who’s this? Where did you drag her from?"
"Not dragged," Lin Yin scratched his head awkwardly. "She’s the sister of a martyr. She has nowhere else to go. Could you please help me look after her for a while..."
Before he finished, Jiang Zixun dragged Huang Yin inside.
"Don’t be shy, treat this as your home. Little sis is really cute. What’s your name..."
Seeing Jiang Zixun’s warmth, Lin Yin finally relaxed.
But facing Jiang Zixun’s enthusiasm and the grandeur of the villa’s living room, Huang Yin looked like a frightened chick, wanting only to hide behind Lin Yin, hesitant to step inside for fear of dirtying such an elegant floor.
Fortunately, with Jiang Zixun’s warm welcome, Huang Yin gradually lost her initial tension.
Jiang Zixun even found some of her old school clothes. Though a bit worn, they were all brand names and well preserved.
After changing, Huang Yin timidly lowered her head, unwilling to look at her reflection in the mirror.
"So beautiful. Once tidied up, it’s like a completely different person. Truly a born beauty," Jiang Zixun sighed. Then she cleaned the guest room.
Lin Yin took Huang Yin to the guest room and soothed her for a few minutes. The little girl soon fell into a weary sleep, though tear tracks still marked her cheeks.
"Asleep?"
Closing the guest room door, Lin Yin saw Jiang Zixun smiling warmly at the doorway.
"She’s asleep."
"Come here."
On the sofa, Jiang Zixun casually turned on the television, which was showing countless people searching for heroes.
"See what you missed? Magnetic Wave, Killing General Chen—major heroes of the Jiayuguan battle. Tsk tsk, don’t you feel it’s a pity?"
"What’s there to feel sorry for?" Lin Yin calmly watched the screen. "Fame, rewards, flattery—the so-called celebration is rather boring."
Jiang Zixun had already taken off her armor and changed into a purple gown. Hearing Lin Yin’s attitude, she shrugged resignedly. "Alright, it’s already known. Sooner or later, these things will come to rest on your shoulders."

Saying that, Jiang Zixun went to take a shower. She hadn’t rested since arriving and still smelled of blood.
Lin Yin watched the television alone. Suddenly, a fleeting image flashed across the screen, and a faint cold smile curled on his lips.
The image was of Lin Tianjiao in the crowd, his face full of resentment, teeth clenched, fists balled. Though only momentary, it starkly contrasted with the passionate throng around him.
That hateful gaze locked directly onto Lin Yin’s eyes.
"Jealousy stirring mischief, huh? Hah, does the moon envy the sky..."
...
At the celebration site,
As Lin Yin was nowhere to be found, the event ended abruptly.
People were puzzled why the King of Humans did not announce any reward for Lin Yin by the end of the celebration.
The crowd dispersed.
Lin Zhengyang turned and approached Xia Changsheng.
"Really? I... Lin Yin did it?"
"Yes," Xia Changsheng replied firmly. "From today on, all cities within Jiayuguan will know there is a savior named Lin Yin!"
As Xia Changsheng spoke, he quietly watched Lin Zhengyang’s reaction.
But Lin Zhengyang remained calm, simply nodding. "Good."
He turned and left, summoning the Lin family Imperial Guards to return to the Martial King Mansion in the capital.
On the journey back, Lin Zhengyang sat with his arms crossed and eyes closed. The atmosphere in the vehicle was oppressively tense, even Lin Tianjiao beside him dared not breathe heavily.
"Tianjiao, you’ve truly disappointed me."
Suddenly, Lin Zhengyang opened his eyes and spoke softly, but the words struck Lin Tianjiao like a thunderclap.
"You’ve enjoyed all the Lin family’s resources for over a decade, along with the care and nurturing from your mother and me, yet in the end..."
Lin Zhengyang fixed his piercing gaze on his youngest son with overwhelming pressure.
"...you can’t even match half of your brother’s achievements?"
Boom! Lin Tianjiao was stunned, his vision darkening, the words echoing repeatedly in his mind:
How could you not even match half of your brother’s achievements...
