Volume One, Chapter Sixteen: The Truth Revealed
Zhao Feng was momentarily stunned, then immediately sneered, “Don’t spout nonsense here. Is there anyone in the entire East Sea who doesn’t know my reputation as a playboy? And yet you’re here spreading rumors? I change women more often than you change clothes, and you dare say I like men? If you’re going to throw mud, at least make it believable.”
“Let me tell you, I’m as vigorous as they come—seven rounds a night without breaking a sweat.”
Standing beside Zhao Feng was a charming woman in a fresh, alluring dress, who chimed in, “I can vouch for Young Master Zhao. He’s so incredible, it’s almost too much to handle.”
As she spoke, a shy blush appeared on her face.
Zhao Feng, flushed with pride, said, “Did you hear that, boy? Stop acting like a rabid dog, biting at random. If it weren’t for the Fu family’s sake, you’d be dead ten times over by now.”
Meanwhile, the onlookers’ gazes towards Chu Ming grew increasingly disdainful. Even though Chu Ming’s accusations against Wang Qi couldn’t be disproved, Zhao Feng was another matter entirely.
Zhao Feng’s playboy antics were famous—maybe he didn’t switch girlfriends every three days, but the rate at which he changed them made everyone envious. Every time he attended an event, his female companion was never the same.
Moreover, with Zhao Feng’s own girlfriend vouching for him, who would believe he was secretly interested in men? That was pure nonsense.
“I thought this Chu Ming had some real skills, but he’s just a big-talking fraud.”
“So Wang Qi’s case was probably another lie, just him slinging mud. I almost fell for it!”
“No wonder he managed to latch onto the Yun family—it’s likely even Old Master Yun was duped by him.”
“Haha, otherwise why would Old Master Yun announce Yun Xueyan’s engagement to him in public?”
Mocking and contemptuous murmurs rippled through the crowd, but Chu Ming seemed completely unconcerned. Instead, he turned to Zhao Feng’s girlfriend.
“You just said Zhao Feng was very vigorous, didn’t you? But haven’t you noticed anything odd? For instance, does he always insist you’re together only at night, with the lights off, or make you wear a blindfold and not take it off?”
“And isn’t it true that your meetings are always scheduled in advance? And in public, you’ve never even kissed?”
The alluring woman’s face showed surprise. “Wait, how do you know all this?”
Chu Ming smiled faintly. “Haven’t you ever wondered why? With the lights off, how can you be sure it’s really Zhao Feng? How do you know who’s with you?”
The woman’s expression changed instantly; she looked at Zhao Feng with suspicion.
Zhao Feng, increasingly unnerved by her gaze, shifted uncomfortably.
Chu Ming continued, “Have you and he ever been truly intimate?”
The woman thought for a moment, then shook her head. “No, at most we’ve held hands, and even then, he lets go almost immediately.”
Chu Ming smiled meaningfully. “There you have it. You know in your heart whether something’s wrong, don’t you?”
Then he turned to Zhao Feng. “Young Master Zhao, you keep boasting about being a playboy. In that case, kissing your own girlfriend in public shouldn’t be too much to ask, right? It’s certainly easier than making Young Master Wang drop his pants in the restroom to check for diapers, wouldn’t you say?”
Zhao Feng snapped, “Enough with your lies! As the eldest son of the Zhao family, why should I listen to you?”
The alluring woman, seeing Zhao Feng refuse, pressed, “Aren’t I your girlfriend? What’s the harm in proving it in public? Is a kiss really so difficult?”
With that, she stepped forward, trying to kiss Zhao Feng.
A look of disgust flickered in Zhao Feng’s eyes as he quickly stopped her.
He explained, “Wait, how can you let him fool you with a few words? There’s no way I’m that kind of person.”
Feeling deeply wronged, the woman said, “Zhao Feng, you bastard, you do like men. I’ve been with you for so long and still have no idea who’s been with me every night. I must have been blind.”
Zhao Feng retorted angrily, “What’s wrong with you? You believe him after just a few words?”
Tears streaming down her face, the woman replied, “If you want me not to believe him, it’s simple—just kiss me right now.”
An awkward expression crossed Zhao Feng’s face; he made no move to kiss her.
By now, the truth was clear to the crowd. Just as Chu Ming had said, Zhao Feng was nothing but a playboy in appearance, hiding his true nature.
In an instant, the crowd’s gossip shifted from Chu Ming to Zhao Feng.
Undoubtedly, Zhao Feng’s secret was far more explosive than Wang Qi’s incontinence. After all, incontinence could be treated, but changing one’s orientation was not so easy.
As Zhao Feng’s close friend, Wang Qi recalled all their times together. No wonder Zhao Feng was always so close, sticking to him wherever they went. Suddenly, Wang Qi felt a chill run down his spine and quickly put distance between himself and Zhao Feng. Even if he had incontinence, his orientation was perfectly clear—he had no wish for Zhao Feng to come at him from behind with an iron rod one day.
Exposed in front of everyone, Zhao Feng was furious, his glare at Chu Ming almost murderous.
Chu Ming, however, looked utterly at ease. He turned gently to Yun Xueyan. “Xueyan, you see now, the ones with real problems are them.”
Yun Xueyan was surprised at how Chu Ming had so easily exposed both Wang Qi and Zhao Feng’s secrets, but she felt much better, her pent-up anger finally released.
In the auction hall, everyone broke into small groups, eagerly discussing Zhao Feng and Wang Qi’s scandals. As for Zhao Feng and Wang Qi themselves, they desperately wanted to leave, but there were things in the auction they wanted.
Fortunately, the gossip didn’t last long. With the host arranged by the Fu family stepping onto the stage, the murmurs gradually faded.
Fu Donghai walked to the center of the stage, scanned the room, and announced in a clear voice, “Ladies and gentlemen, I am Fu Donghai of the Fu family. Thank you all for taking time out of your busy schedules to attend our auction. I won’t waste your time—let’s move straight to our first item.”
As his voice fell, a tall, stunning woman in a cheongsam stepped onto the stage, carrying a tray draped in red cloth.
She placed the tray on the crystal counter. Fu Donghai lifted the cloth, revealing an exquisite Tang Dynasty white jade porcelain vase. At the same time, the large screen behind him displayed a detailed introduction to the vase.
After a brief description, Fu Donghai started the bidding for the first item.
