Chapter Eighty-Six: I Could Finish Him Off in Less Than a Minute!
The Stardust platform executives watching the live broadcast felt much more at ease seeing Luo Chen so calm and composed. Yuan Feng's greatest concern was not Luo Chen's gaming skills. After all, someone with such confidence wouldn’t be far behind Huang Ying even if not quite his equal. What truly worried Yuan Feng was Luo Chen facing an audience of over ten million for the first time—if nerves got the better of him and he performed poorly, things could get tricky.
It wasn’t just Luo Chen’s fans tuning in this time; there were plenty who wanted to see him stumble. Fortunately, it seemed the situation wasn’t nearly as bad as feared.
“Recently, the BSR Historical Research Center launched a new initiative in London. We all know that when BSR makes a big move, the Templar Knights already have their sights set on something…”
As the game narration ended, the official gameplay began.
“Welcome to England, 1868.”
England, at the height of the Industrial Revolution, was thriving on the surface, yet beneath the prosperity lay unrest and wickedness. Numerous factories belched thick black smoke, and the conflict between capital and the commoners grew ever fiercer.
Many missions in the game revolved around factories—assassinating industrialists, rescuing child laborers, and so on. The protagonists were twin siblings, Jacob Frye and Evie Frye.
The first target in Sequence One was the factory owner, Rupert Ferris.
There wasn’t much to say about the tutorial level—three valves and four practice soldiers, all handled with effortless ease.
“This isn’t for a leap of faith, nor is it a vantage point; it’s simply for practicing rapid descent to the ground.”
“Right after landing, there’s an enemy ahead, tch... uh.”
On screen, Jacob leapt from a crane high in the air, used the crossbeam to propel himself forward, and landed right in front of an enemy. With a swift turn, he stabbed, not even pausing—an instant kill followed by a quick exit.
“There aren’t many enemies along the way; they can be dispatched easily, but passing by them still triggers their alertness…”
Luo Chen narrated as he played, his hands never missing a beat. Whether dispatching enemies on the way or vaulting and climbing, his movements were seamless, making it seem as if the enemies were deliberately lining up to die.
At the corner ahead, he encountered a red-clad guard facing away from the protagonist. Leap kick, subdue, slit throat, kill! All accomplished in an instant, without disrupting the fluidity of his parkour. It was a true display of casual killing.
Such a dazzling performance right from the start—naturally, the barrage of comments was non-stop. In fact, in less than ten minutes, the number of comments exceeded five million. If the live room hadn’t been specially prepared by Stardust, it might have crashed outright.
Are we playing the same game?
True casual killing!
This protagonist is no longer human, right? Enemy alertness? Is it even necessary? One glance and they’re dead—who would resist?
…
As a renowned single-player game, many had played it. That’s precisely why this was so shocking. When playing themselves, every enemy was a hassle, but watching this master’s stream, the enemies couldn’t even slow him down for a moment, instantly slain without any obvious pause.
This was simply out of this world!
The streamer is a true god! High-level Overlord rewards one million Stardust coins! I’m kneeling before these skills!
The streamer is a true god! High-level Skyseeker rewards five hundred thousand Stardust coins! True casual killing, I’m convinced!
The streamer is a true god! High-level Insulin rewards five hundred thousand Stardust coins! Is Jacob hacking? Why was my Jacob so clumsy when I played?
…
Many began to doubt whether they’d ever truly played Assassin’s Creed—how did they manage back then?
It was probably just a berserker charge, right?
Several of Huang Ying’s fans, who had been planning to discredit Luo Chen, fell silent. For a moment, they couldn’t even find an excuse to ridicule him; there was not a single flaw to pick in his performance.
“Now, just kill the last one and head up to the rafters, enter the second floor. That’s more like an assassin—who goes in through the front door? That’s for berserkers.”
On screen, Jacob dispatched the last enemy and climbed the steel beams to the second floor, entering stealth mode.
I think I did go in through the front door—anyone else?
Same here, Berserker No. 1.
Stab and run, exhilarating.
…
Many popular streamers watching the broadcast were stunned.
This was live, after all!
No mistakes would be impressive enough, but how was it that the protagonist moved without even a moment’s pause? Everyone watched as the protagonist quickly dispatched a guard with a throat slit, then jumped from the second floor to tackle another passing guard, sleeve blade stabbing for another instant kill.
Such proficiency seemed the result of dozens of rehearsals. If it were just a game video, one could say it was the outcome of extensive practice. But to perform so flawlessly in a live broadcast—this could only be the result of both skill and rigorous preparation. Compared to this, Huang Ying’s Assassin’s Creed stream was clearly a tier below.
The broadcast continued…
“There are quite a few people here, but there’s no need to kill them all. I’ll assassinate the target as quickly as possible—no point wasting time. Killing isn’t the goal, it’s just incidental!”
In the dilapidated, chaotic factory, Luo Chen’s protagonist moved as if in a world without obstacles, staying in stealth, only slitting the throats of enemies who blocked his path. In just over two minutes, he bypassed the factory guards and prepared to assassinate the first target, the factory owner Ferris.
The camera shifted—factory workers were reporting to Ferris, discussing the child laborer crushed by the steel plate at the start.
“Mr. Ferris, the boy in the factory needs to be taken to the apothecary for bandaging.”
“Fine, but be sure to dock his wages.”
As a capitalist, Rupert Ferris naturally cared nothing for the life of a mere employee. After warning his subordinates against showing false kindness, he waved them off.
Faced with such a reckless villain, the barrage was ablaze, with many viewers clamoring for him to be killed quickly.
Luo Chen had no objections, calmly declaring,
“I can dispatch him in less than a minute!”
