Chapter 61: This Act Is Way Over the Top!
As soon as Lu Ming spoke, everyone turned to look at him.
He said, “Sorry, something urgent came up. I have to leave. Please, everyone, enjoy your conversation.” With that, Lu Ming turned to go.
At that moment, John hurried over and said, “Mr. Lu, where are you rushing off to? Would you like me to arrange a speedboat for you?”
“No need. I’m meeting a friend. He’s not far from here,” Lu Ming replied.
His words left everyone bewildered. They were surrounded by endless sea; where could this friend of his possibly be nearby?
Lu Ming then turned to Yan Feihua and Chen Xijun. “Once you’re over there, do your best and don’t bring shame to us.”
Both of them nodded earnestly. This opportunity was hard-won, and they were determined to cherish it.
Lu Ming then greeted Huo Xiangying before heading straight outside.
Before long, his figure appeared on the deck. Without hesitation, he leapt into the vast ocean.
Everyone in the main hall, watching this scene unfold on the monitor, was left utterly astonished.
John then made his way to the central stage, speaking into the microphone, “Ladies and gentlemen, there’s no need for alarm. With Mr. Lu’s capabilities, this sea poses no difficulty to him.”
Everyone suddenly recalled Lu Ming’s extraordinary abilities, comprehension dawning on their faces.
Meanwhile, in the water, Lu Ming was frolicking with Blue Dragon.
A moment earlier, he had suddenly sensed Blue Dragon’s presence, filling him with elation. He had thought Blue Dragon had yet to reach the ocean and hadn’t tried to sense his aura. But just now, he felt a powerful presence—Blue Dragon’s—instantly, thanks to their spiritual connection. No matter the distance, should either wish to, they could always reach the other.
After an exchange with Blue Dragon, Lu Ming learned that the night before—when he had demonstrated his prowess—Blue Dragon, having just reached the sea, had felt his aura and hurried over.
Now, Blue Dragon was over a meter in length, his body covered in fine blue scales that shimmered like gemstones—radiant and majestic.
In the water, Lu Ming and Blue Dragon wrestled and played joyfully together. Blue Dragon was, after all, an aquatic dragon breed, an invincible being in the water. Even as a juvenile, Lu Ming could sense his formidable strength.
As for Lu Ming, ever since he had consumed a dragon and cultivated the Dragon Soaring Technique, he had become impervious to both water and fire. He could remain in the sea for a whole year unharmed.
Man and dragon tumbled through the waves, sometimes bursting above the surface in exuberant leaps.
Meanwhile, after Lu Ming’s departure, the cameras on the Finis remained trained on the sea. Suddenly, someone spotted two figures—one human, one strange creature—leaping repeatedly from the water, and cried out in astonishment.
“What is that?”
Hearing the exclamation, everyone turned their attention to the screen.
There, a familiar figure and a peculiar creature churned the waves, frolicking in the sea.
“Isn’t that Mr. Lu?” someone exclaimed.
“That thing looks like the legendary dragon!”
“Yes, that’s what an Eastern dragon is said to look like.”
“Is that a young dragon? My god, do such creatures really exist?”
One after another, people voiced their amazement.
So Lu Ming’s ‘friend’ turned out to be a dragon—utterly unbelievable.
Everyone in the hall was once again left in awe of Lu Ming.
“Mr. Lu is a divine being,” Huo Xiangying sighed, watching the scene. In his heart, Lu Ming had risen to a place of unassailable reverence. To befriend a dragon—what else could he be but a deity?
After playing for a long time with Blue Dragon, Lu Ming finally prepared to say goodbye. This was Blue Dragon’s world, not his, and sooner or later he would have to return home.
From their conversation, Lu Ming learned that the ocean held no natural enemies for Blue Dragon and was rich in food; with the exception of one or two legendary creatures, nearly everything in the sea was his prey.
Lu Ming parted ways with Blue Dragon, who let out a series of plaintive roars, reluctant to see him go.
Lu Ming patted his head and said, “I’ll come see you again in a while. Remember, even though you have no enemies in these waters, don’t show yourself to humans lightly. There are powerful individuals among mankind, and you’re not yet their match. Besides, humans are greedy; if you’re discovered, it would only bring trouble.”
Blue Dragon nodded obediently.
“All right, I’m off. Goodbye—grow up well.”
After giving Blue Dragon a final reminder, Lu Ming threw his head back and let out a long howl. Then, like an arrow from a bow, he dashed across the sea’s surface, heading toward the harbor.
Blue Dragon, reluctant to part, followed behind him for dozens of nautical miles, until finally, unable to keep up with Lu Ming’s ever-increasing speed, he slowly sank back into the depths.
That night, deep in the night at the harbor, people suddenly noticed a white wave rushing swiftly toward the port.
Panic-stricken, they scattered.
Yet, as the wave reached the harbor, it stopped abruptly. They saw only a blurred figure vault overhead.
“What was that?”
Amid their startled cries, Lu Ming landed and disappeared into the crowd.
He hailed a cab to the high-speed rail station, bought a ticket, and embarked on the journey home.
After a few hours of deep sleep, Lu Ming finally returned to his general store the next morning.
Seeing the wide-open door, Lu Ming chuckled, “Yun Ketian, you’re actually minding the store for me?”
He stepped inside.
But the moment he entered, his expression darkened.
There sat Yun Ketian, his face bruised in patches of blue and purple, slumping dejectedly to one side.
A woman lounged nonchalantly on the sofa, smoking.
“What are you doing here?” Lu Ming asked coldly.
The woman took a drag and replied, “I came to see you.”
“And why are you looking for me?”
“I’m out of money and came to ask you for some spending cash.”
“How the hell… I gave you several million as a breakup fee, and you’ve already blown through it?” Lu Ming’s face was stormy.
Yun Ketian nearly spat out blood at hearing this. No wonder this woman was so formidable—able to wring millions out of Brother Lu as a breakup fee; how could she not be tough?
“What can I say? I love to gamble.”
“Go wherever you want, but I have no money for you.”
“That’s not my problem. If there’s no money, I’m not leaving.”
“You want to freeload here? Not a chance.” Lu Ming’s tone was resolute.
The woman exhaled a smoke ring with poise. “I’m staying right here. What will you do about it?”
“Show some respect when you talk to me. No matter what, I used to be your boss,” Lu Ming growled.
“That was then; now, you’re just the owner of a general store,” she replied indifferently.
“Damn it.”
Lu Ming cursed, then glanced at the brand-new sofa and coffee table.
“What the hell is this—where’s my old sofa?”
The woman smiled sweetly. “I thought your sofa was too shabby, so I had this kid buy a new set. What do you think? Good taste, right?”
Lu Ming’s brows furrowed deeply, his voice cold. “Do you know who he is? You dared to hit him and make him buy you things?”
“I couldn’t care less who he is.”
“He’s the son of the top official in the Northwest Province. Hit him, and you’ll be spending the rest of your life in jail.”
“Don’t threaten me with such cheap tricks. Worst case, I’ll just walk away. What could he possibly do to me?” The woman’s tone was utterly unconcerned.
Yun Ketian listened to their exchange, trembling with apprehension.
When Lu Ming had left, the woman had arrived.
Accustomed to ordinary women, Yun Ketian was taken aback by her fresh and spirited presence.
Hearing that she was looking for Boss Lu, Yun Ketian assumed she was here on business for Brother Lu and saw an opportunity to act important.
So he impersonated Lu Ming, intending to take care of the business and show off a little.
Just as he was basking in his imagined authority as the store owner, ready to handle any problem, the woman casually split the coffee table in two with a single palm.
At that moment, Yun Ketian realized he had gone too far with his act.
