Chapter 94: The Drunken Martial World
Lu Ming shook his head and smiled, holding up the black box with a look of smug self-satisfaction.
The moment Qin Lan heard it, a glimmer lit her eyes, but it faded almost at once.
Lu Ming’s words sounded far too miraculous for her to believe.
At that moment, however, joy filled Yun Ketian’s face.
He knew that with Brother Lu’s abilities, getting hold of something like this was no strange feat at all. Qin Lan’s recovery was right before their eyes.
Wang Deqiu, on the other hand, was visibly furious. He fixed Lu Ming with a hard stare and said, “The patient’s injuries are severe. This is not a joke. Our team of specialists has poured tremendous effort into stabilizing her condition. And you believe some wandering con man’s trick? This is utter nonsense.”
Lu Ming glanced at him, but did not argue, nor did he rebuke Wang Deqiu.
Ordinary people could not understand matters like this, and he did not blame Wang Deqiu.
He handed the box to Yun Ketian and gave his shoulder a crooked, playful slap. “You handle it. I’ll come get her this afternoon.”
With that, Lu Ming turned and left.
Wang Deqiu then looked at Yun Ketian with great seriousness. “Young Master Yun, this is no matter for jokes.”
Yun Ketian smiled. “I know. Don’t worry, I won’t act recklessly.”
As he spoke, he casually tossed the box aside.
Only then did Wang Deqiu relax. After giving Yun Ketian a few more instructions, he left the ward.
After Lu Ming and Wang Deqiu had both gone, Yun Ketian turned to lock the door, then went to Qin Lan’s side.
Expressionless, Qin Lan stared at the ceiling and said, “If you dare smear that stuff on me, I’ll break your legs.”
Yun Ketian’s hand, resting on the black box, froze. Then he said miserably, “Sister Qin, you have to trust Brother Lu. He wouldn’t lie to us.”
“Whether he lies or not is none of my concern. But if you dare do that, you’re dead,” Qin Lan said sternly.
No matter whether that thing was real or not, she would not allow Yun Ketian to touch her.
These past few days, having him help her with even the most basic bodily needs had already nearly driven her to collapse. Just thinking of him spreading that stuff all over her body made her feel utterly unable to accept it.
Yun Ketian said with a pained expression, “Sister Qin, just try it once. Brother Lu definitely wouldn’t deceive us. My father’s cancer was cured by him.”
He tried once more to persuade Qin Lan, hoping to get her to accept the remedy.
“I’ll say it one more time. If you dare put that stuff on me, I’ll kill you,” Qin Lan repeated the same threat.
Watching her warnings grow more and more severe, Yun Ketian wore a deeply troubled look as he paced back and forth in the ward.
After a long while, he seemed to make up his mind. Grinding his teeth, he went to Qin Lan’s bedside and pulled the blanket off her in one swift motion.
Qin Lan was startled and cried out immediately, “What are you doing?”
Without another word, Yun Ketian undid the splints that had been fixed in place on her body and began taking off her clothes.
Qin Lan panicked at once. “Yun Ketian, you’re dead. No one can save you.”
Ignoring her completely, Yun Ketian continued stripping her clothes away. Before long, Qin Lan’s full, graceful figure was laid bare before him.
Her face flushed crimson. She bit her lip hard, cursing Lu Ming and Yun Ketian inwardly countless times.
But her ribs had not yet fully healed. Even the slightest movement sent a searing pain through her body, leaving her with no strength to stop Yun Ketian.
Once he had removed all her clothes, Yun Ketian took out the black box. After opening it, he scooped out a white, milk-like substance and began smearing it over Qin Lan’s chest.
“Damn it!” Qin Lan blurted out a vulgar oath.
...
Lu Ming returned to the grocery store and slept until after four in the afternoon before waking.
After checking the time, he felt it was about right, so he drove to the People’s Hospital. He still had great confidence in the effects of whatever that old dragon produced.
When he reached the ward on the fifth floor and pushed the door open, he saw Qin Lan standing by the window with a dark expression, while Yun Ketian sat at the foot of the bed with a bruised and swollen face, looking aggrieved.
Lu Ming laughed. “How is it? Pretty miraculous stuff, isn’t it?”
As he spoke, Lu Ming circled Qin Lan and clicked his tongue, his face full of smug pride.
“My stuff really is good, isn’t it? Look at you—you’ve not only recovered completely, but your constitution has improved by a huge margin. There’s hope for you to break through to the Innate stage.”
Qin Lan’s face remained dark as thunder. She did not answer.
She was also shocked by how miraculous the thing Lu Ming had brought really was, exactly as he had said.
After it had been smeared all over her body, less than half an hour later she was already able to get out of bed and move around. A few hours later, she had completely recovered. Her blood and vitality were even stronger than they had been at her peak. She had no choice but to admire it.
Still, having Yun Ketian touch every inch of her body had made her mortified beyond words. When had Qin Lan ever suffered such humiliation?
The first thing she had done after recovering her strength was beat Yun Ketian up to hide her embarrassment.
Yun Ketian was powerless to resist. In the hands of that female tyrant, the poor fellow had only one fate: to be thoroughly battered.
“Hurry up and leave. I’ve had enough of this place,” Qin Lan said. She had no desire to waste words with Lu Ming; she only wanted to get out of here as quickly as possible and escape Yun Ketian’s gaze.
“All right, all right, we’re leaving right now,” Lu Ming said with a hearty laugh, turning to head outside.
Qin Lan and Yun Ketian were about to follow. Naturally, someone else would clean up inside; there was no need for them to worry about it.
Just then, Wang Deqiu came in with two nurses.
Seeing Qin Lan standing on the floor, he hurriedly said, “Why are you out of bed?”
Qin Lan forced a smile. “I’m already healed. I’m being discharged.”
“Don’t be ridiculous. You’re still a long way from healed. If you suffer another fracture now, it’ll be very difficult to deal with,” Wang Deqiu said, gesturing for the two nurses to help Qin Lan back into bed as he spoke.
At the same time, he glanced at Yun Ketian.
Yun Ketian spread his hands helplessly. “Dean Wang, Qin Lan really has recovered. There’s no need to worry.”
Hearing this, Wang Deqiu looked unconvinced. “Absolutely impossible. Let her lie down. I need to examine her.”
Seeing how insistent he was, the others knew they would not be able to leave this ward without letting him check her first.
Besides, he meant well, and they could hardly force their way out.
Lu Ming signaled Qin Lan to lie back down.
Qin Lan, very unwillingly, flopped herself onto the bed, startling Wang Deqiu badly.
Since she was cooperating, Wang Deqiu brought over a small X-ray machine and took several images of her upper body with a series of clicks.
This was a VIP special-care ward, treatment reserved for provincial officials. All the equipment inside was imported and advanced, making everything fast and convenient.
Shortly after, the images were ready. Wang Deqiu took them from the machine and held them up to the sunlight by the window to examine them.
A moment later, astonishment spread across his face. From the X-rays, Qin Lan’s ribs had grown back together completely, with not the slightest trace of where they had once been broken.
At that point, Lu Ming smiled and said, “Let’s go.”
He knew such a thing could not be explained and that it was best to leave early to avoid trouble.
The three of them quickly slipped out of the ward while Wang Deqiu was still stunned.
Passing the door, Lu Ming even made a point of greeting the guard soldier on duty and expressing his thanks.
After leaving the hospital, the three returned to the grocery store.
Lu Ming lay down lazily, while Qin Lan shot Yun Ketian a look and said coldly, “Why are you still here? What are you lingering for?”
Yun Ketian looked aggrieved. “With the way I look now, how am I supposed to go back? If I do, I’ll just get beaten again.”
Qin Lan immediately flared up, lifting her fist as if she wanted to beat him once more.
Terrified, Yun Ketian hurriedly ran to Lu Ming’s side.
Qin Lan saw this and held herself back. She sat down at the side, face dark, saying nothing.
Looking at the two of them, Lu Ming really wanted to laugh. They were truly a pair of lively adversaries, forever on the verge of staging another round of combat.
Just then, someone suddenly appeared at the doorway.
He was in his fifties, dressed neatly and cleanly.
At the entrance, he bowed first, then said, “May I ask whether Mister Lu is here?”
Lu Ming looked at him and nodded. “That’s me. What is it?”
Only then did the man step into the grocery store. He produced a bright red invitation card, held it forward with both hands while bent at the waist, and said, “Lin Xiao of the Northwest Lin family, together with fellow friends from the Northwest underworld, respectfully invites Mister Lu to a banquet tonight at eight o’clock at Drunken Jianghu. We hope Mister Lu will honor us with his presence. It will be our great privilege if all our compatriots in the Northwest can entertain you.”
