Chapter 112: Spinning Like a Top (Part 2) [September Event Announcement!]
Lin Luyou followed the sound and looked up.
Chen Xujia’s hoodie featured a deep red base, with the words "Max Sells Big" emblazoned across the chest in a color that was hard to tell whether it was a muddy mustard or a flat, unappealing yellow. Next to the characters, there were two printed stalks of wheat.
It was, indeed... quite ugly.
Lin Luyou echoed the sentiment in her heart.
"So, how have you all been doing? Tell me all about it!" Chen Xujia asked as she placed her belongings on the desk and shed the hoodie that so clearly clashed with her own taste.
"Oh, don't even get me started!" Su Zhenxin perked up instantly at the mention of work. "We haven't even had a chance to drink a sip of water all night! The tasks just kept coming in waves, one after another—it never stopped! And another thing, what happened to the people Group One promised to lend us? We haven't even seen a shadow of them!"
"Have you finished your tasks yet? This round of basic analysis is just waiting on you!" He Suzhen interrupted her venting, urging her to "turn in her homework."
"I'm writing it, aren't I? Besides, me running my mouth doesn't stop me from tapping the keyboard. Done! Uploading it now!"
Su Zhenxin’s mouth didn't stop moving for a second, but it truly didn't hinder her work at all. The keyboard clattered away with a rhythmic, frantic sound.
From Su Zhenxin’s complaints, Chen Xujia accurately grasped the main point:
"Are you saying those three from Group One never showed up? I knew I felt like something was missing."
As she spoke, she made a move to go find Liao Yingying and have it out with her: they had promised to provide people, so how could they have just vanished into thin air?
"I don't think it's necessary to go looking for them for now," Yang Tianqi offered a different opinion. "Today is the first day of the pre-sale, and with an event this massive, every department is stretched thin... Besides, once we make it through this first night, things will get much easier. Even if we got them here, there wouldn't be much for them to do."
Chen Xujia thought about it carefully and agreed that it made sense.
"Fine, then we'll just demand people from her on Double Eleven itself!"
"So, besides the lack of manpower, what other issues are there?"
Yang Tianqi pondered for a moment and replied, "There’s just too much being piled on us right now. They’re all ad-hoc tasks, and each one has different requirements... The worst part is that some of these tasks require us to look into the status of every single product currently on sale for those brands."
She paused for a moment before continuing:
"This means we have to keep going to Yuyao and the others to make requests, asking them to pull the relevant data from the system database for us. I suspect Brother Yu will be coming down to have a word with us by tomorrow morning."
"Is it that serious?" Chen Xujia clicked her tongue.
Ding Tongyu from the Data Analysis Department was not only famous for poaching talent, but he was also notorious for being fiercely protective of his own team. If he were to come down himself to argue, it meant the situation was definitely not trivial.
"Then we need to figure out if there’s a way to solve this... honestly, it’s not great to keep bothering them," Chen Xujia said, tapping the table as she made a serious note in her notebook.
"Any other problems?"
The others were still busy with ad-hoc tasks and simply shook their heads, opting out of the discussion.
They waited at their desks until one-thirty in the morning. Seeing that no more urgent tasks were coming in, Chen Xujia announced:
"Alright, that’s it for today, everyone!"
The team reacted as if they had just heard the most beautiful sound in the world, rising to their feet and applauding: the work was finally done, and they could finally get some rest.
Once everyone had settled down, Chen Xujia added:
"Just now in the war room, Old Wang managed to secure a little perk for everyone."
