Chapter 12: Angered-A Cat for Every Cat Owner(Wise as snow, cold as ice.)

“Are you out of your mind?”
The moment Lin Lu You sent a private message to Jiang Xiaohan about her decision, her phone rang.
As soon as she answered, Jiang Xiaohan’s high-pitched voice nearly hurt her ears.
“Are you stupid? You’ve decided to wait for Max—how long are you going to wait? Days? Weeks?
Have you thought about it? The autumn recruitment is already moving into the second round everywhere. By the time you decide to look for a new company, the application period will be long over! What will you do then? Wait for the spring recruitment? There are hardly any positions in spring, you know that!
XM may not be as good as Max, but it’s still a top fund company. What an opportunity, and you’re just throwing it away. Ugh, talking to you is infuriating.”
“But…” I just want to take a chance.
Jiang Xiaohan knew immediately her tone was too harsh. As Lin Lu You’s best friend in the universe, if she didn’t help her brainstorm and cheer her on now, when would she?
But her pride wouldn’t let her soften:
“Fine, do as you please. If nothing works out, I’ll reluctantly take you as my little sidekick!”
Hearing Jiang Xiaohan’s awkward voice on the other end, Lin Lu You could picture her standing by the wall, hands on her hips, eyes darting everywhere, her face full of disdain.

In the end, it was always her girlfriends she could count on. She adored this stubborn, tender-hearted tsundere.
“Lin Lu You!”
She had barely stepped out of the building when someone grabbed her arm.
Stumbling a bit, she turned around to see the owner of that large hand—Zhen Hao, the very person she had been thinking about just moments ago.
“You… I just heard from HR that you passed the interview but rejected the offer?”
“Yes.”
Lin Lu You knew she couldn’t hide it from him, so she didn’t bother lying and nodded.
“You!” Zhen Hao, seeing Lin Lu You so unapologetic, looked like some creature unfazed by boiling water. He raised his finger to her forehead, but couldn’t get a word out for a long time.
He was getting a taste of what it was like to raise a mythical beast ready to swallow the sky. His self-proclaimed good temper had failed countless times before her.
“Come back with me. I’ve already told HR to hold your file a bit longer. Come back, sign the employment contract, and stop acting so childish!”
With that, Zhen Hao gripped her wrist, trying to drag her back inside.

“Ouch! Let go of me!” Lin Lu You tried to break free with her other hand, but his grip was unyielding.
“Then come back with me. Go upstairs and I’ll let you go.”
“I told you, I’m not going! I don’t want to work at a fund company, I don’t want a job in finance…”
“Then what do you want? Go to some internet company and work 996?”
When Lin Lu You didn’t answer, Zhen Hao continued:
“That company’s only been around a few years. Is their internal system even established, and you want to rush over? Your major doesn’t even match. What could you possibly do there? The internet industry changes in a flash. In a couple of years, who knows if they’ll even be around. What future will you have there? All those certificates, awards, your knowledge and experience—outside this field, they’re worthless!”
With so many questions thrown at her, the warmth Lin Lu You felt from her friend now seemed to sink straight down.
“Zhen Hao.” Lin Lu You stopped struggling, raised her head and looked at him calmly. “Is it that, in your eyes, only if I follow the path you’ve laid out, am I right, am I worth anything? Is it that, unless I do what you say, it’s all just a whim, just childish tantrums?”
