Chapter 020: The Sightseeing Group
Stepping out of the elevator, both sides opened onto an expansive tea room and lounge area. Lin Lu You estimated inwardly that even if her whole class held a small birthday party here, the space would not be cramped at all. Truly worthy of a major corporation.
Further in was the office area. Their desks could only be described as “peculiar shapes.” In Wang Xi’s words, their group sat together in a little cluster. No long tables, no cubicles—members of the same group gathered round to work, fostering greater collaboration within the team.
“I’m sure our little Kite downstairs has already told you—when it comes to employee care, if we rank second, no other company would dare claim first place.” Wang Xi spoke with pride, leading the “tour group” toward the conference rooms and discussion areas as he continued, “Everything below the twentieth floor is office space. As for what’s above… the twentieth and twenty-first floors are gyms. If you’re into weightlifting, running, swimming, or basketball, we can get together after work! The twenty-second floor is for leisure and entertainment—hair styling, manicures, massage, sleep pods, all here.”
He seemed to sense that some newcomers were curious or puzzled about the sleep pods, and deliberately teased, “Want to know why we have sleep pods? Heh, you’ll understand in a month.”
Wang Xi thought to himself: the more curious you are about sleep pods now, the less you’ll want to use them later. As he mused, he rolled his neck—sure enough, he missed his own bed; the mattresses upstairs were just too soft.
“If you want to read, you can check out the twenty-third floor. We’ve just built a library—”
“Er Yu!” Wang Xi was interrupted by a voice coming from a nearby conference room. The owner of the voice emerged, pushing open the door. It was the third time Lin Lu You had seen her interviewer.
Perhaps it was the tacit understanding between teams; before Chen Xu Jia spoke, Wang Xi already knew what she wanted to ask. “I’m showing them around now. Soon I’ll take them to pick up their computers and set up their equipment. The two from your group are with me, their access has been granted, right?”
“I’ve already submitted the request. Later, could you bring our two newcomers along as well? We’re in a meeting and can’t get away.” Chen Xu Jia spotted Lin Lu You in the group and greeted her with a tilt of her chin. “Hey, don’t steal our two newbies! I searched high and low to find them.”
“Don’t worry. I know you’re short-handed right now; if I wanted to poach, I wouldn’t do it at this moment.” After a brief exchange, Wang Xi led the group onward, waving two fingers, “Don’t forget, you owe me two boxes of McNuggets this time!”

After collecting their laptops from IT, Lin Lu You and Cheng Li were mercilessly sent off by Wang Xi. “You two better hurry back to your team leader, or she’ll accuse me of stealing her people again. You know where to go, right? The same conference room as before.”
Seeing both nod, Wang Xi let them go without hesitation.
“Hi, I’m Cheng Li. I just heard Aliex say you’re Lin Lu You, right? I’ll just call you Youyou then.”
On the way back, it was as if Cheng Li had suddenly been unleashed; her words rattled out like a machine gun—da-da-da-da—never stopping. Previously, with so many people around, she hadn’t seemed particularly chatty, but the moment the crowd thinned, she couldn’t stop talking.
Lin Lu You was taken aback by her enthusiasm, but since it was her first day, she couldn’t afford to be standoffish. She forced herself to respond, bracing for the onslaught.
