When Lin Lu-Yu and her companion returned to the conference room where they had encountered Chen Xu-Jia earlier, they happened to arrive during a break.

“You two are here!” Chen Xu-Jia, seated by the door, was naturally the first to notice their arrival. “We’re on a break right now, so just find a place to sit.”

The others, hearing the commotion, merely glanced up briefly before returning to their work.

All the chairs around the conference table were occupied, so the two newcomers had to find seats along the wall, settling into the observer’s area.

Taking advantage of the break, Chen Xu-Jia spun her chair over to them, speaking quietly to explain her department’s responsibilities:

“Just now, Er-Yu probably gave you a brief introduction. Our team mainly deals with merchandise—what sells well, how to sell it, it’s all up to us to give our opinions. Honestly, our group is the core of the entire operations department.

With the big Double Eleven sale approaching, this meeting is mostly about pre-battle planning.

Neither of you have worked in an internet e-commerce company before, right? That’s good. The next two months will be an unforgettable experience for both of you.”

As she spoke, the conference room door opened again. A boy with a buzz cut came in, carrying two large bags of snacks.

“Hey, Xu-Jia, is this the support team for our group?”

Seeing that everyone had arrived, Chen Xu-Jia stood up and clapped her hands, drawing everyone's attention to herself:

“Alright, everyone’s here now. Before we begin, let’s welcome our two new members!”

How many times had she been called a “kid” on this journey?

Lin Lu-Yu felt she could hardly count on both hands. She was used to being called “senior” at school, but now, stepping into the workplace for the first time, she suddenly found herself being doted upon like a child.

To become the group’s darling overnight—she had to admit, it felt pretty nice.

At the team leader’s cue, the previously silent members suddenly changed demeanor, scrambling to introduce themselves.

“Ah, Xu-Jia, you finally spoke up! If you hadn’t, I swear Zhen-Zhen was about to burst.”

A girl with her hair in a bun sized up the newcomers, nudging the bespectacled girl next to her with her elbow.

“You’re the one who can hold back—I think you’re just eyeing the desserts!” retorted the girl with glasses, refusing to be outdone.

The desserts brought in by the boy were quickly divided among them. Noticing that Lin Lu-Yu and her companion still sat awkwardly by themselves, the girl with glasses called out:

“Don’t be shy, you two! Come over here—the desserts from this place are amazing! It’s your first day, and thanks to you, the boss is treating us.”

Thanks to a round of desserts, the two new employees instantly felt at home in the team.

Through their casual conversation, Lin Lu-Yu learned that:

The interviewer she had met three times was Chen Xu-Jia, the leader of Merchandise Operations Group Two.

The boy who brought in the desserts was Tan Fang, the only male in the group and their go-to for logic and reasoning.

The girl with the bun was Su Zhen-Xin, and the bespectacled one was He Su-Zhen. These two were classic frenemies, never missing a chance to bicker with each other.

Tang Xiao was the most boisterous member, but perhaps even fate found her too loud—last week, she lost her voice after eating barbecue.

Now, with her throat inflamed, she sat with Yang Tian-Qi on the other side of the conference table, quietly discussing unresolved issues from the first half of the meeting.
