After quickly finishing her lunch, Lin Luoyou returned to the meeting room and continued her battle with the data in front of her. But since it was still lunchtime, the lights in the room were dim, and she could vaguely hear a few colleagues snoring. Not wanting to disturb their rest, Lin Luoyou decided to take her laptop to the lounge area to work.

“Aren’t you going to rest?” Lin Luoyou had barely sat down when she saw Chen Xujia take a seat across from her.

“Xujia,” Lin Luoyou greeted, looking up at her. “I can’t help it. I have something at school tomorrow—a presentation about my graduation thesis. So I have to get more done today.”

“Alright, go on then,” Chen Xujia replied, not pressing further. She patted Lin Luoyou’s shoulder and walked off to another spot.

At half past one, the end of the lunch break, the sound of conversations began drifting from the office area. It seemed the workday was about to resume.

With that in mind, Lin Luoyou picked up her laptop and made her way back toward the meeting room. At the entrance, she noticed the neighboring meeting room, which had been empty at noon, was now full of people.

After a moment’s thought, Lin Luoyou realized: These must be the new hires Sister Danling mentioned would be arriving today.

With this realization, Lin Luoyou instinctively straightened her back, raising her own presence a notch. She’d only arrived a day earlier than these newcomers, but in her heart, she already saw herself as a veteran of the company.

After lunch, Lin Luoyou always felt a bit sleepy. Coupled with the early morning and a tense, focused start to her day, by nearly three in the afternoon her eyelids were growing heavy.

“Does anyone want some coffee?” Lin Luoyou wanted to buy a cup to wake herself up, but felt awkward ordering just for herself, so she quietly asked those sitting nearby.

“I do!”

“Me too!”

“Count me in!”

She had expected no response, but to her surprise, several colleagues seemed to share her need. Even Chen Danling joined in:

“I’ve still got some discount coupons from Xingyu’s last promotion. Why don’t we use them together this time? What does everyone want? Let’s order as a group.”

What began as a small group order among the women’s apparel team members ended up involving nearly forty colleagues from their entire meeting room.

“When you go to pick up the drinks, borrow a cart from them—that’ll make it easier,” Chen Danling advised as they placed the order.

Glancing at her progress and seeing she’d already completed nearly nine thousand entries, Lin Luoyou decided to take a short break to clear her mind. Saving her file, she ambled toward the coffee shop with her hands clasped behind her back, much like the elderly men downstairs strolling after a meal.

By mid-October, the air had grown a little cooler. At least, walking in the sunlight no longer felt oppressively hot.

When Lin Luoyou reached the entrance of Xingyu Café, she hadn’t even gone inside before spotting Qin Shishen’s busy figure behind the counter. Not just him—two servers she’d seen before were bustling about as well.

Judging by the scene, they must be making their order.

The thought made Lin Luoyou quietly amused. She wasn’t sure if she was feeling a touch of schadenfreude, or simply a bit embarrassed.
