Chapter 048: Seeking Solitude
Tan Fang, upon hearing this, made an "ok" gesture, pushed her computer toward Yang Tianqi next door, and hurried upstairs to "invite" the two for the meeting.
The two mentioned by Chen Xujia—Cheng Yu and Ding Tongyu—were the leading figures in the Data Analysis Department. Besides them, there was another liaison with the Product Operations Group Two, Cai Yuyao. Ding Tongyu was the leader of their whole team.
The Commercial Operations team required a significant amount of data for their daily work, but they were not well-versed in programming. Furthermore, their database access was only at the secondary level; more core data could not be downloaded or used independently.
This was where the Data Analysis Department came into play. This department gathered a group of people who, aside from the Algorithm Department, were the most proficient programmers in the company.
They acted as a hub, extracting the data needed by various front-end departments from the company database and presenting it in the format desired by the "clients."
Although they were technically the "service provider," their advanced database access and technical expertise made them more powerful than the "clients" themselves.
That was why Tan Fang's eyes lit up when she heard that Cheng Li could program.
Their understanding of programming was simply too superficial, and even for data within their own access rights, they often found themselves powerless.
When they brought such requests to the data analysts, who were busy to the point their feet barely touched the ground, not getting "chased off" was already considered lucky.
After Chen Xujia and the other six left, only Lin Lu You remained at the workspace. The atmosphere felt rather desolate.
Colleagues from Group One passing by couldn't help but frown and ask, "Youyou, why are you alone? Where are the others?"
When she replied, "They all went to a meeting," they would always respond with an "oh," showing a look that suggested this was nothing unusual.
Programming? What's the big deal?
Can't I learn it myself?
Those who passed the Computer Level Two exam and the Mathematical Modeling Competition wouldn't be daunted by this, would they?
Determined to learn, Lin Lu You searched the internal network for keywords like "programming" and "SQL," and sure enough, a string of posts appeared.
The posts explained that SQL is the standard language for accessing and processing relational databases. No matter what programming language is used, any operation involving relational databases must be done through SQL.
Fortunately, Lin Lu You had learned Python before, and since the two are somewhat related, it wasn’t as difficult as she had imagined.
In the blink of an eye, it was already noon, and the seven who went to the meeting still hadn’t returned. Lin Lu You looked around for familiar faces but found none, so she had to go downstairs to eat alone.
But the allure of SQL was powerful; even on her way to the cafeteria, Lin Lu You couldn’t tear her eyes away from the screen.

During the lunch break, each floor was required to turn off the corridor lights, creating a restful atmosphere.
After finishing her meal, Lin Lu You had no plans to rest. She wanted to use this time to study more about programming.
Returning to her desk with her computer on would disturb colleagues trying to rest; staying in the cafeteria or the tea room was too noisy with people coming and going. After weighing her options, Lin Lu You decided that Star Rain Café was the best place.
Her timing was impeccable. By the time she arrived, nearly all the dine-in customers had already paid and left.
Only a few scattered patrons remained, sharing her desire for peace and quiet.
