Chapter 066: Division of Labor

Having secured "external support" from Liao Yingying, Chen Xujia finally felt satisfied enough to retrieve her lunch from the break room.

The taste of reheated rice had changed somewhat. Though she was quite hungry, after a few bites, she found her appetite waning.

She hastily finished her meal and quickly returned to her workstation, eager to relay the instructions from the leadership.

"Everyone, pause what you're doing and listen!" Chen Xujia pulled out the notes she had taken during the meeting. "Just now, during the meeting, Brother Yuan specifically mentioned our team. He asked that we don't simply pull out the product pool and update it periodically like we've done before. We need to track the sales performance of products under each category."

"But hasn't sales always been handled by the marketing department and suppliers?" He Suzhen asked, somewhat puzzled.

"Our tracking is from a different perspective than the marketing department. They're focused on profit and KPIs, but our emphasis is still on the products themselves."

Chen Xujia felt her explanation was still too vague, so she tried another approach:

"The main data points we're looking at are still those basic ones. But if we can develop new metrics and perspectives, that would be even better. Those are Brother Yuan's exact words!"

The veterans in the team, hearing that the focus remained on the usual basic data, immediately felt reassured. Not only had they done this work for past promotions, but even on ordinary days, they were quite familiar with it. It was routine, albeit time-consuming and labor-intensive.

Chen Xujia understood what her teammates were worried about, so she added:

"So let's divide up the tasks. Each person will be responsible for a few categories. As usual, if a category has many subcategories or brands, you can pick just one; if it has fewer subcategories, pick two. The remaining categories will be assigned to the trio coming next week to help us out."

Hearing about external support, Su Zhenxin and her group visibly relaxed, exhaling in relief. The dread of being dominated by data tracking was not something they wanted to experience again. Meanwhile, the newcomers, Lin Luyou and Cheng Li, stood there clueless, unaware of how arduous the task truly was.

After the assignments, Lin Luyou ended up with not only dietary health but also maternal and infant supplements, while Cheng Li, besides bags and luggage, was given digital appliances.

As the end of the workday approached, colleagues who had finished their tasks began to openly idle, chatting in small groups about where to go next and weekend plans.

Lin Luyou glanced at the time in the corner of her computer screen and sent an invitation to Jiang Xiaohan:

[Are you there?]

[Shall we leave together later?]

While waiting for Jiang Xiaohan’s reply, Lin Luyou was already imagining whether they should wander around the commercial district together. They had planned to shop and check out trendy spots during the holiday, but her friend's last-minute overtime had left her wandering alone.

Some things, though doable alone or with someone else, always feel different in mood and atmosphere.

But as luck would have it, just when Lin Luyou could finally leave work on time, Jiang Xiaohan encountered another sudden situation:

[Um, we have a shareholder meeting with a partner company tonight.]

[It starts at five-thirty and probably won’t end until seven-thirty.]

Lin Luyou, worried about her friend’s mild night blindness, couldn’t help but ask:

[Are you going to their office in person?]

Thankfully, Jiang Xiaohan replied it was just an online meeting, so she'd stay at her own office to join in. But her only concern was that by the time the meeting ended and she submitted the minutes, there might not be anywhere to eat.
