Chapter 097: The Solution (Preview, Next Week’s Release)
Cai Yuyao truly lives up to her reputation as someone who deals with data all day; in no time at all, she finished checking, “Hmm, there’s nothing wrong with the formulas in this spreadsheet. The rest is up to you to filter through slowly. I won’t go back upstairs, or else Yu-ge will probably come down looking for someone soon.” With that, Cai Yuyao hugged her laptop and slipped away like a flash.
Once Cai Yuyao left, the conference room settled into quiet once more. Lin Luyu picked up the thread of her interrupted thoughts. “Xiaoxiao, can you take a look and see if my approach makes sense?” she said as she moved her chair over next to Tang Xiao.
Lin Luyu pointed to the columns for click-through rate and conversion rate. “Group B's click rate is higher than Group A’s. And if you look closely at the specific products, the items with higher rates are mostly those suitable for age ranges of 0–5, 10–15, and 25–35, as well as the non-fast-consumables series... Based on this, can we infer that these potential customers are actually attracted by the promoted products—these items hit their needs exactly—but for some reason, they haven’t chosen to buy?”
“Makes sense. Go on,” Tang Xiao encouraged, not disagreeing, which gave Lin Luyu more confidence. She believed there were three main reasons why these browsers hadn’t placed orders:
First, the price wasn’t appealing enough. Second, they wanted to compare goods across different shops. And third, perhaps they needed to discuss with their families before deciding to buy.
“So you’re saying they’re holding off on purchasing right now because they know there’ll be a big promotional event with price cuts later?” Tang Xiao propped her head in thought. “But that doesn’t fully explain it—after all, Group A’s data shows plenty of people are placing orders.”
“That’s why there’s still those other two points!”
“So how do you plan to verify your theory?”
This question stumped Lin Luyu. She could easily come up with plenty of possible reasons for what happened, but when it came to verification or proposing a solution, she found herself at a loss.
“…Why don’t you keep thinking along these lines? It might be a good breakthrough,” Tang Xiao suggested.
“Alright!” Lin Luyu gave a thumbs-up with her right hand, then returned to her seat to ponder further. She hadn’t been sitting long when she scooted back to Tang Xiao’s side again. “Xiaoxiao, see if this works?”
Hearing that Lin Luyu had quickly found a solution, Cheng Li’s brows furrowed slightly, and she quietly shifted her chair closer to the two, listening intently to their conversation.
“If I add a data point for ‘number of favorites’ or ‘favorite rate,’ I can determine how many customers who clicked into the product details actually added the item to their favorites. Though these people didn’t convert to sales immediately, it shows to some extent that they’re likely to place orders in the future.”
“Yes, that should work. Later, go upstairs to find Yuyao and have her help extract the data…”
“Let’s put off data extraction for now. How are you three doing?” Before Tang Xiao finished, Chen Xujia pushed open the door and leaned against the frame, asking.
“Not bad. Just now, Luyu came up with an idea, and I think it’s feasible. Over here, I’ve also discovered several issues from the angles of products paired with brands and products paired with categories.”
Chen Xujia raised her brows. “I knew you’d figure it out. But aren’t you planning to go downstairs for lunch? It’s almost half past twelve.”
She tapped her wrist to signal the three to check the time.
“Wow, it’s gotten so late!”
