Chapter Thirty-Seven: The Entrepreneur
“Damn, why has Yeliu Group suspended trading?”
“Damn it, Zhang Group already announced cutting ties with Yeliu Group, which prompted many partners to cancel their cooperation. And now, they’ve outright suspended trading. They really treat shareholders like fodder.”
“That old witch, Liu Yiran, turned a thriving company into this mess, all because of some pretty boy. Women really aren’t suited for leadership.”
“Isn’t anyone going to do something? These listed companies are just exploiting shareholders.”
“Count yourselves lucky. I got in at ten a share, bought at the peak, and now I’m stuck holding the bag.”
“Liu Yiran is using our money to support her pretty boy—shameless.”
“I heard the shareholders are already fighting over that pretty boy. The suspension is actually better; at least it won’t keep dropping.”
“Better? Are you kidding? When trading resumes, it’ll be another limit-down. We’re all doomed.”
“Ask the corporate secretary: What exactly does Liu Yiran want with this suspension and restructuring?”
Corporate Secretary: Dear users, Yeliu Group is a large technology company. We uphold the principles of technology-driven and service-oriented enterprise, committed to changing lives through technology and empowering daily life.
“What kind of answer is that? Look at how the secretary from Little Nine responds to users.”
“Bet even the secretary thinks their own stock is hopeless.”
“What should we do? Now with the suspension, we can’t even run.”
“Just afraid when trading resumes, only the big players will escape first.”
“Damn it, let’s go to Yeliu Group and protest.”
“Hey, look! Yeliu Group’s top influencer, Xue Qing, has posted online, accusing Liu Yiran of ignoring everyone’s objections and forcibly appointing a rough, violent man as manager of the influencer department, and that guy even assaulted Xue Qing.”
“Really? Where, let me see.”
“It’s true, look at Xue Qing’s mouth.”
“It’s not just Xue Qing. Many of Yeliu Group’s big influencers have posted statements condemning the new manager.”
The online community and shareholders exploded almost simultaneously. Within an hour, videos from several influencers had racked up millions of views.
“It’s outrageous, making our goddess cater to capital.”
“Liu Yiran, that madam, playing with a pretty boy is one thing, but now she’s forcing her influencers to entertain guests.”
“If we don’t report her today, tomorrow the capitalists will trample all over us. Support Xue Qing, support En Hui.”
“There are still people willing to stay at Yeliu Group?”
Soon, under the guidance of Xue Qing and En Hui, netizens began attacking those influencers who hadn’t resigned.
Jin Yueyun was the first target. In no time, her private messages and comment section were flooded with countless angry fans.
By then, Xue Qing and her circle didn’t even need to stir things up anymore; a swarm of onlookers and competitors started spreading rumors and smearing Jin Yueyun’s reputation.
Within hours, Jin Yueyun had gone from a pure, innocent anchor to someone with a scandalous private life, and there were even AI-generated face swaps used to blacken her image.
The other company influencers now lived in fear, afraid Xue Qing and En Hui would target them next. Many reached out privately, flattering Xue Qing and badmouthing Liu Yiran. Some even joined Xue Qing’s camp.
The whole group was in turmoil. A company that had been thriving was now beset with fear and uncertainty; employees lost motivation, and the shareholders now sided with Tong Tiexing.
Liu Yiran and Jin Yueyun were at the center of the storm. Liu Yiran, at least, maintained her composure, her strong presence betraying nothing. Jin Yueyun’s eyes were swollen from crying, her babyish face making her plight all the more pitiful.
“Yezi, we can’t go on like this.”
After comforting Jin Yueyun and sending her away, Liu Yiran looked at Ye Qiu and Mary. “Making more money is good, but this has already violated the original purpose of founding the company.”
According to their plan, after the negative news broke, Ye Qiu and Mary would push for restructuring, suspending trading, then dilute Tong Tiexing’s shares through an AI initiative until his stake dropped below ten percent, before cleaning up public opinion.
“Sis, Tong Tiexing already suspects our AI plan. If we announce it now, even if his shares are diluted, the current market price will make his holdings worth dozens of times more. We’d be giving our enemy a bargain. Sis, you know the saying: ‘Mercy doesn’t command an army.’”
“This is China, not America,” Liu Yiran shook her head. “Capital seeks profit, but the Chinese value the nation and family. Though I am a woman, I won’t blindly chase profit. Right now, the company is in chaos, but so many shareholders believe in Yeliu Group’s value. I could exploit their panic, force them to sell, but that would destroy countless families, and the faith people have in us would collapse. That’s something money can’t measure. I believe my company is more than just a business; it can be a century-old enterprise, lasting even longer, rooted deeply in people’s hearts.”
“Sis, that’s not how business works. It’s just capital accumulation. If someone wants to sell, it’s because their analysis failed. To be frank, you’re not a qualified businesswoman.”
“No need to say more. My mind is made up.”
Mary refused to give up. “Sis…”
“Mary, since Sis has decided, let’s do as she says.”
Ye Qiu gave Mary a signal.
“That’s my good brother,” Liu Yiran nodded with relief. “Right now, we need to solve two problems: one, the influencer issue; two, restructuring. We must finish restructuring as soon as possible and release good news, so the stockholders don’t panic.”
“Alright, I’ll handle the influencer situation.”
But Liu Yiran shook her head, rejecting Ye Qiu’s offer. “Yezi, I know you mean well, but trust me, I can handle this. Your main task is to do your job as influencer department manager and comfort those willing to stay.”
“Alright then.”
Ye Qiu nodded in agreement.
Just as Liu Yiran was about to call a meeting of senior management, Ye Qiu found an excuse to remain in her office.
“Mr. Ye, you should persuade Sis. If she handles this right, her personal wealth will increase by at least several billion yuan.”
“Mary, do you think I care about money?”
Mary paused.
Right—this was Mr. Ye, the owner of the gold card. Even she admired him so much, and George’s son even called him master.
He wasn’t short of money.
But who doesn’t like more? Capital should seize every opportunity to make money.
Yet, Mary felt this wasn’t Mr. Ye’s style.
“Mr. Ye, is that really how you feel?”
