"Who lives inside?"

Moments later, Yunyan’s voice sounded again: "Master, according to the household records, the owner of this villa is Tong Tiexing."

"It’s him?" Ye Qiu’s brows immediately furrowed. "That guy can still afford a villa? You, as an artificial intelligence, bear an inescapable responsibility."

Yunyan was shocked.

How could she be blamed for this?

Humans were truly abominable.

"No pouting. Go ring the doorbell."

Yunyan wanted to cry. She couldn’t even pout, yet she still had to help her master ring the doorbell.

Grumbling to herself, Yunyan infiltrated the villa’s security system.

A few seconds later, the doorbell chimed.

"Ding dong."

"I already paid you. You’d better behave yourself." Tong Tiexing opened the door impatiently, but upon seeing Ye Qiu at the threshold, he was stunned.

"It’s you?"

"It’s me."

"What do you want?"

"That’s what I should be asking you."

"Ask me?" Tong Tiexing was still dazed as Ye Qiu slowly walked inside. It was only then that Tong Tiexing snapped out of it and hurriedly blocked Ye Qiu’s way. "This is private property. Please leave."

"Or what?" Ye Qiu looked at him with a playful glint in his eye.

"You've already won. What more do you want?" Tong Tiexing’s shares had just been acquired, and the bank immediately froze his assets. He would never believe Ye Qiu wasn’t behind it.

"I’d intended to let you live, but since you insist on courting death, I suppose I have no choice but to oblige you." Ye Qiu shook his head slightly and sighed. "How does one save a person like you?"

Tong Tiexing’s eyes almost bulged from his head. He didn’t know why, but as Ye Qiu’s voice turned cold, an uncontrollable tremor seized his entire body.

He wanted to open his mouth and shout, but under the icy gaze of Ye Qiu, he found he didn’t even have the strength to part his lips.

"Since you seek death, I’ll grant your wish."

"No, don’t kill me."

Facing death, Tong Tiexing finally managed to speak. But for some reason, his eyes grew even wider, his pupils filled with terror, as if the man before him had, in the blink of an eye, become a demon from hell. He seemed to see the raging fires of the underworld and countless grotesque fiends crawling out in agony.

"You’re not human. You’re a demon!"

Tong Tiexing screamed as he bolted out the door, shouting all the way, "There’s a ghost! A ghost!"

He dashed straight to the security booth. Just as the guard was about to question him, Tong Tiexing, like a madman, lunged at the guard, tackling him to the ground. As he opened his jaws wide to bite the guard’s neck, another security guard kicked him aside.

He seemed impervious to pain, scrambling up in an instant, growling low in his throat like a wild beast.

The guards were terrified; they struck him with electric batons. It took the combined effort of several burly guards to finally subdue him.

"Monsters… You’re all monsters…" he roared.

"Captain, what do we do now?"

The head of security, still shaken, patted his chest and wiped the cold sweat from his brow, cursing, "That dog’s gone mad. Call the police—what else can we do?"

...

"Is it him?"

"Most likely." On the other side of the villa, Bai Kaishui withdrew his gaze and slowly looked at Xiong Xinxin behind him. "Fortunately, he no longer recognizes you."

In truth, Xiong Xinxin’s previous failed cosmetic surgery had nothing to do with the doctor—it was her own machinations that had ensured the operation failed. Even if the bandages had been removed back then, her marred face would have repelled anyone.

Between her appearance and her life, she had chosen the latter without hesitation.

"Are you really so glad he doesn’t recognize me?" Xiong Xinxin stared coldly into Bai Kaishui’s eyes. "If he knew you helped the people from the Secret Society, do you think he would let you go? Don’t forget, though he calls himself the Seraph, he possesses a devil’s bloodline."

"You’ve returned to Huaxia and changed your face; no one can recognize you now. Can’t you just settle down and live the rest of your life in peace?" Bai Kaishui said helplessly. "We’ve already succeeded in making him believe Tong Tiexing was the one who hired the assassin. From now on, as long as you wish, no one will ever find you."

"Live like a dead dog?" Xiong Xinxin’s lips curled into a mocking smile. "If you want to live like a dog, that’s your business. But I will never let him go so easily."

"The Secret Society’s entire network in the Beautiful Country was destroyed by him. The likes of Gallia and Korea are just sending themselves to their deaths." Bai Kaishui said angrily. "I don’t agree with your seeking revenge now."

"I don’t need your approval." There was a deep, mocking gleam in Xiong Xinxin’s eyes, her lips curling slightly. "Tell me, if I approach him as Xiong Xinxin, wait until he falls in love with me, won’t the Angel Legion then fall into the palm of my hand?"

"Are you insane?"

Bai Kaishui’s heart raced wildly.

The Secret Society had once been the most powerful organization in the Beautiful Country. Formed by merchants and politicians, its network could influence national affairs and even start wars abroad.

But even such an organization was helpless before the Angel Legion.

The Angel Legion was simply too terrifying—it was like an invisible net. No matter how secretly you acted, you’d find yourself ensnared, unable to escape.

"Insane?" Xiong Xinxin laughed out loud. "Don’t you think it’s a magnificent plan?"

What could be more exhilarating than conquering this man and seizing control of the Angel Legion?

"You really are mad, to entertain such a wild idea. Aren’t you afraid of being taken advantage of, only to end up with nothing?"

"Why do you men always assume it’s women who lose in these matters?" Xiong Xinxin glanced at Bai Kaishui with amusement. "If you use toothpicks too often, wouldn’t you want to try dental floss for a change?"

Bai Kaishui cursed in exasperation. "You lunatic."

"Enough." Xiong Xinxin walked over gracefully, taking Bai Kaishui’s arm and murmuring softly, "Stop complaining. Think—if we could control the Angel Legion, not only revenge, the entire underworld would be ours."

Bai Kaishui swallowed hard.

He was indeed tempted.

"The Angel Legion’s control stems largely from his artificial intelligence. If we had something like that, the Secret Society could monitor his every move. Then, as times change, it would be our turn to strike."

"How?"

"Idiot." Xiong Xinxin tapped Bai Kaishui’s forehead with a slender finger. "Isn’t Liu Yiran’s newly founded company developing this technology? With a little maneuvering, I’ll send Mary—that annoying woman—back to the Beautiful Country. Then you can become his partner fair and square."

...

"Second Sister and Stinky Leaf, you’re not allowed to go anywhere tonight. Dinner must be at home."
