Chapter Ninety: Inter Milan Supporters
Now, the time to survive has arrived.
As long as the Lang family is brought down, he can not only stay alive, but also cling tightly to Ye Qiu’s thick thigh.
Although Ye Qiu’s foundation lies overseas, that is worlds apart from running for his life.
When he fled, he had to escape by fishing boat, trembling all the while at the fear of arrest, of being silenced, of making his way to Southeast Asia only to suffer a single misstep and lose a kidney.
That is not the same as leaving with Ye Qiu. Out there, with a single word, the man could smooth over an entire route; with just a little greeting, the money earned would be a hundred times, no, far more than a hundred times what he made now.
By then, with money and power in his own hands, he could watch the Lang family collapse from afar. Would that not be far more carefree?
Fight.
A true man, born between heaven and earth, how could he hesitate? When it is time to fight, if he does not fight, he will only be left with a breast full of grievance and a heart sunk in gloom. That is no true man at all.
Jin Liu immediately gathered together Wu Pipa and several close friends.
Though their roots were all in Linhai, Linhai and Jiang City were neighboring places, and there was more or less some connection between them.
Besides, this was the age of the internet. Building a company was not easy, but destroying one was hardly difficult.
“Old Jin, what did you call us here for?”
“That’s right. Business is so busy right now. You can’t make money yourself and then drag us down just because you suddenly have time.”
“Let me tell you, I’ve recently hooked up with a huge online celebrity with millions of fans. I don’t have that much time to waste on a middle-aged greasy guy like you.”
Among the group, counting Jin Liu himself, there were five men and one woman. Not only did they usually do business with one another, they were also involved in some gray-market enterprises. They were all from the same county, so although they bickered constantly, when Jin Liu called, all of them came straight to his office without a word of complaint.
“Enough nonsense. There’s a money-making job in front of you. Dare to take it or not?”
Jin Liu hardened his expression and swept a glance across the group.
They looked at one another, unable to understand what on earth Jin Liu was up to.
Wu Pipa was just as baffled. Earlier, Jin Liu had rushed off saying he would be gone for several days, yet before half a day had passed he had come back, called over his rowdy friends, and opened his mouth with talk of a chance to get rich. She was genuinely a little lost.
“You all know my business in the United States has multiplied several times recently, right?”
“Damn it, I see it now. You came here just to show off.”
The others immediately began cursing.
They did not know whose backing Jin Liu had managed to get. Their own goods had once been blocked from entering those markets no matter how much money they threw at it, yet Jin Liu had not only gotten in, he had even opened up the market. He was now earning foreign currency. Chinese products were already inexpensive and good value; once they entered the American market, it was like unlocking a treasury. How could they not be jealous?
“Shut up.”
These people were simply too noisy.
“Listen to me. You all know Ye Qiu is about to move against the Lang family, right? I’ll be honest with you: this route of mine was opened up by Mr. Ye himself. Just one word from him, that’s all it took.”
“Now Mr. Ye has already said he wants to deal with the Lang family. I, Jin Liu, will be the first to follow his lead. But we’ve been friends for years, and since I get the benefits, of course I’d think of you too.”
The others exchanged looks and fell silent at once.
This was no joke.
That was the Lang family they were talking about, one of the three great tycoons of Jiang City.
And this Ye fellow, whose name they had never even heard before, dared to declare war on the Lang family. He truly did not know how one dies.
“Come on, Jin Liu. Just because you’ve made a little money doesn’t mean you know your own weight. The Lang family is one of Jiang City’s three great tycoons, and one of the ten major enterprises in our province. Let alone all of us together, even if you added a hundred more, to them we’d still be nothing but shit.”
“That’s because you don’t know how much power Mr. Ye has. You know the president of Deep Sea Corporation, Mary, right? She’s worth hundreds of billions of American dollars, and with just one word from Mr. Ye, she came running to China. So many officials and rich men wanted to invite her to dinner, and she wouldn’t even give them the time of day.”
“Bullshit. We know about that already. Whether she’s really the richest woman in America is still up for debate, and even if she is, so what? It’s still useless.”
“Sixth Master, I think Boss Zhou has a point. No matter how capable Ye Qiu may be, what he has are all foreign connections and resources. They don’t mean much in China. But the Lang family has operated here for many years, and with a single word they could take care of us.”
Wu Pipa looked at Jin Liu with concern. “Sixth Master, I think we’d better not get involved in this muddy water.”
“What do you know?” Jin Liu shot her a glare, then turned to the others. “Some of you do export business too, so let me tell you this: Mr. Ye has deep ties with the Seraphim Legion. You know the Seraphim Legion, don’t you? That is the most mysterious and powerful force in America. Even those agencies over there don’t dare provoke them lightly.”
“Really?”
Boss Zhou’s eyes lit up at once.
He did cross-border e-commerce, so he knew America very well.
Especially the Seraphim Legion, which had been the subject of countless rumors. Many goods, as long as they bore the Seraphim insignia, were extremely popular in America. In the hearts of ordinary Americans, they were like supermen.
If it really was the Seraphim Legion, then the Lang family might not necessarily be its match.
After all, the Seraphim had wiped out the largest drug lord in Burrito Nation overnight. An armed drug cartel of over a thousand men, outfitted to the teeth, had been annihilated in a single night.
When the police arrived the next day, all that remained was the golden card stuck into the ground.
Seraphim.
An angel sent by heaven to destroy evil.
An angel who appears to help others whenever someone prays with sincerity.
Hearing that Ye Qiu had ties to the Seraphim, Boss Zhou cast aside his earlier hesitation and excitedly explained to the others how the Seraphim had destroyed the Burrito drug cartel in a single night with a heroic feat.
“Jin Liu, I’m in.”
Seeing Boss Zhou go from disdain at the start to eager excitement now, the others who had once been firm in their refusal also began to waver.
Even if it were as Boss Zhou said, this was China. What could the Seraphim do here? Could these people really stir up trouble in China?
“Listen to me. I, Jin Liu, am risking my head to do this. If anyone dies, it’ll be me at the front. Believe me, all of you have money but have no way to break through to the next class. This is absolutely a heaven-sent opportunity. As long as Mr. Ye is willing, you’ll never have to go on tiptoe to kiss anyone’s ass again.”
This line was clearly more convincing than anything Boss Zhou had said. Those business owners who had originally refused slammed the table and roared with reddened eyes, “Fine, we’ll do it.”
The Lang family may have been able to command the winds and rain in Jiang City, but the people of Linhai were not pushovers either.
Boss Zhou stared straight into Jin Liu’s eyes. “Jin Liu, just tell us how to do it.”
Jin Liu thought for a moment, then looked at him. “You said you just hooked up with an online celebrity recently?”
“Yeah. That En Hui with the figure that makes men drool.”
“You rascal.” Jin Liu let out a cold snort, then said, “Call her and have her come over.”
Jin Liu had also heard about these internet celebrities from Xue Yishou. This was an excellent opportunity.
