With the Nightwalker ability, Lin Lei entered a concealed state soon after leaving the bar. There was no way the others could catch him.

Half an hour later, Lin Lei returned to the bar.

He went straight back to the private room where Boss Lao was waiting.

Boss Lao waved his hand, and the others in the room tactfully stepped aside one by one.

At that moment, a silver suitcase had appeared beside Boss Lao.

He weighed it in his hand, then held it out. “Check it.”

Lin Lei opened the suitcase after a brief glance. When he saw the reagent bottles filled with an eerie blue liquid, he immediately closed it again.

Under the influence of his Gluttony talent, he could naturally tell whether the contents were genuine.

Of course, Chen Fan did not completely trust the man either. He intended to have Li Xueshu test the potion later to verify its authenticity.

He took the two Blood Potions from his pocket.

“Boss Lao, you should inspect the goods as well.”

A flash of light passed through Boss Lao’s eyes. After examining the bottles, he nodded. “No problem.”

“Pleasure doing business with you, Boss Lao. Until we meet again.”

With that, Lin Lei picked up the suitcase and turned to leave.

Once he was out of the bar, he soon used Nightwalker again and vanished into the darkness.

…

After Lin Lei left, Boss Lao was once again alone in the private room.

He stared at the Blood Potions in his hands, his eyes filled with excitement. He carefully put them away, then produced a notebook and a pencil.

On the paper, he wrote: “The person who traded with me just now was a First Realm.”

Snap.

A drop of red blood fell onto the page.

Boss Lao wiped away the blood flowing from his nose, and his face had turned somewhat pale.

“I guessed wrong…”

He tore out the page he had just written and began again.

“The person who traded with me just now was a Second Realm.”

When the period fell, nothing unusual happened this time.

“Haha! Only a Second Realm!”

His eyes were filled with excitement.

He took out his phone and dialed a number.

A lazy female voice answered. “Another deal?”

Boss Lao smiled. “A major one. Someone just traded Blood Potions for an Enlightenment Potion…”

“Blood Potions?!”

The woman’s voice rose several pitches, losing all traces of its earlier languor.

“That’s a precious thing…”

“However, I’ve heard that even within the Blood Sakura Society, only core members of the Third Realm or above are entitled to receive them. Anyone capable of obtaining Blood Potions probably isn’t someone we can deal with easily, is he?”

Boss Lao merely sneered.

“I can say with certainty that the kid is only a Second Realm. What’s more, he traded two bottles of Blood Potion for one Enlightenment Potion, thinking he had made an enormous profit—”

“I suspect he obtained those Blood Potions by sheer luck. Judging from his attitude, I’d say he still has more in his possession…”

The woman’s voice came decisively through the phone.

“I’m in!”

The temptation of the Blood Potions was simply too great.

Boss Lao chuckled. “We’ll follow our usual arrangement. Call me once it’s done.”

…

Lin Lei returned home sometime after two in the morning.

Naturally, he could not wake Little Thirteen at that hour to get up and drink the Enlightenment Potion.

Instead, he went straight to bed.

But less than half an hour later, Lin Lei suddenly opened his eyes and sat upright.

His brows drew into a deep frown.

His hearing and perception were extraordinarily acute. He sensed Source Energy fluctuations surging nearby, while faint rustling sounds came from the living room.

The noise was extremely soft, clearly being deliberately suppressed, but it could not escape Lin Lei’s ears.

He climbed out of bed barefoot and raised a hand.

The Sword Bone quietly broke through his palm and extended forward, becoming a bone sword in the blink of an eye.

Raising an eyebrow, he strode to the bedroom door.

The deliberately muffled sounds outside drifted in from the living room.

Lin Lei narrowed his eyes. His ears twitched slightly, and from those sounds, his mind reconstructed the approximate positions of the intruders outside.

“There are two of them. One is in the living room, and the other is right outside my bedroom door…”

He licked his lips.

Then he raised his hand and viciously thrust the sword through the wooden door in front of him.

Whoosh!

The solid-wood bedroom door was pierced as easily as tofu.

A dark figure was impaled along with it.

A scream rang out.

“Bloom!”

The bone sword in Lin Lei’s hand let out a sharp hiss, and the person outside fell silent mid-scream.

Lin Lei pushed open the ruined bedroom door and turned toward the other figure in the living room.

Although the lights were off and the intruder was dressed in black nightwear, Lin Lei could clearly tell from her build that she was a woman.

She frantically raised her hand. A silenced pistol was clutched in it, and she pulled the trigger at Lin Lei.

For low-level Source Energy users, the power of a pistol was still terrifying.

Sparks erupted in the darkness. Along with a muffled bang, a spray of blood burst from Lin Lei’s upper arm. However, the bullet had been unable to penetrate the Sword Bone within his body.

“Not an ordinary pistol. It may be some kind of Source Artifact…”

Lin Lei did not give the woman a second chance to hit him. His body sprang forward like a kangaroo, and the bone blade in his hand came down with brutal force.

Whoosh!

The scene he expected—of the woman being cleaved in two—did not occur.

A layer of radiance suddenly appeared over her body, as though she had been clad in armor forged from light.

Even with Lin Lei’s terrifying strength, the strike still failed to break through her defenses.

The tremendous impact, however, sent the woman flying into the living-room wall.

The woman’s face was full of terror. Protected by the radiant armor, she had suffered no significant injury. She raised the gun toward Lin Lei once more, but before she could pull the trigger again—

Swoosh!

The pistol in her hand suddenly vanished.

A flash of astonishment and bewilderment crossed her face.

Lin Lei turned his head and glanced toward the entrance of Little Thirteen’s room. At some point, a small head had poked out from the bedroom and was peering into the living room.

Lin Lei nodded at the child, then turned back.

He shot forward like a spring released.

Blood Boil activated.

The black bone sword in his hand tore through the air and descended in an instant.

Crack!

Countless fractures appeared across the radiant armor covering the woman.

With a crashing sound, it shattered into countless specks of light that scattered through the air before transforming into a pale talisman paper and falling to the ground.

The woman’s body was once again hurled against the wall by the terrifying force.

Boom!

The cement wall caved inward, forming a massive depression, while spiderweb-like cracks spread continuously through the surrounding surface.

Lin Lei rolled his neck, producing a series of cracking sounds. Then he strode over to the woman, who was curled up on the floor and groaning, reached down, seized her by the neck, and forcibly lifted her into the air.

“How do you want to die?”
