Chapter 21 Formidable Potion
After Lin Lei transformed into a mist of blood, the numerous anomalies lost their target. They spun around in circles like ants on a hot pan. These creatures lacked eyesight and relied instead on a special spatial perception to sense targets and enemies.
However, since Lin Lei had turned into blood mist and no longer possessed a physical form, there was simply no way for them to sense him.
The blood mist he had transformed into instantly surged toward the rear of the anomaly horde.
In the blink of an eye, it condensed into a solid form right in front of a fourth-tier red-crystal anomaly.
Only at this moment did Lin Lei bite open the Blood Potion he had been holding in his mouth.
Crack!
The scalding red liquid slid down his throat into his stomach, and Lin Lei immediately felt a surging, torrential power erupting from within.
The exact moment Lin Lei’s body solidified, the surrounding anomalies reacquired their target, rushing toward him aggressively.
As for the four-armed anomaly, the dense red light shield on its body flickered as it continuously backed away.
After drinking the Blood Potion, Lin Lei opened his mouth and let out a sudden, low roar.
Dragon Might!
Hum!
Some of the surrounding anomalies seemed as though they had been electrocuted, their movements freezing instantly.
The fourth-tier red-crystal anomaly also ground to a halt.
Simultaneously, the Blood Potion Lin Lei had consumed began to take effect.
Lin Lei could feel his heartbeat accelerating rapidly, his blood surging furiously, and a wave of intense heat sweeping through his entire body.
It felt as though an endless well of strength was gushing from within his physique.
This sensation was similar to when he activated Boiling Blood, but the effects were vastly more powerful.
Although Lin Lei could not accurately estimate how much his strength had increased, he could feel that he was currently even more formidable than his unsuppressed self!
Lin Lei felt fortunate that he had been cautious enough and exercised great restraint when taking down the Blood Shadow earlier, deliberately waiting for the opponent to approach. Otherwise, had the Blood Shadow managed to drink a vial of this stuff, the difficulty of eliminating him would have skyrocketed unpredictably.
His eyes gleamed brightly as he gripped his bone-sword greatsword with both hands, lunging forward to slash down at the fourth-tier anomaly before him!
Swoosh!
The black sword sliced through the air, instantly crashing down upon the red light shield enveloping the fourth-tier anomaly.
A repulsive force far more terrifying than before fought to block the descent of the black bone sword.
Yet under the massive surge of Lin Lei’s amplified strength, this repulsive force ultimately failed to withstand his terrifying might.
With a sharp crack, the moment the light shield shattered, the fourth-tier anomaly in front of him was cleaved clean in half by a single blade strike.
"The first one!" Lin Lei licked his lips.
While Lin Lei wasted time dispatching this anomaly, the smaller monsters in the rear—unaffected by the intimidation—stepped over the bodies of the fallen vanguard and lunged at him.
Lin Lei’s Dragon Might could not be activated continuously; a certain interval was required between uses.
"Come on!" A fierce glint flashed in his eyes.
The power of the Blood Potion was still lingering, and at this very moment, Lin Lei felt an inexhaustible reservoir of strength within his body.
He parted his hands, and the bone sword automatically split into two blades.
He swept them outward in a horizontal slash!
Slash, slash, slash!
The anomalies were sliced in half like blocks of tofu. In the blink of an eye, he had slaughtered several more creatures, though the red light shield protecting his own body instantly shattered into pieces.
Wielding weapons forged from red crystal, the anomalies left numerous deep gashes across Lin Lei’s skin, which was normally tougher than steel.
Relying on the Blood Potion, Lin Lei’s strength had indeed increased significantly, but his defensive capabilities remained ultimately limited and still fell short amidst such a vast horde of anomalies.
After all, Lin Lei had only eliminated a single fourth-tier red-crystal monster; the buffs empowering the rest of these creatures were still wildly exaggerated.
"Meeting them head-on is still unwise!"
Lin Lei shook his head, once again transforming into a blood mist as he surged toward the next fourth-tier anomaly.
Taking advantage of the ongoing effects of the Blood Potion, he quickly closed the distance to the next fourth-tier red-crystal monster.
These red-crystal monsters were exceedingly cunning, all hiding at the very back of the horde. Yet beneath Lin Lei’s Mist Transformation ability, no matter how many anomalies stood in the way, they were nothing more than illusions.
He quickly resolidified his body in front of the next fourth-tier red-crystal monster. However, since his Dragon Might could not be used a second time immediately, he had to rely on his spiritual light shield to brutally withstand the surrounding anomalies while executing a forced kill on this second fourth-tier target!
With too many anomalies swarming around him, his spiritual light shield naturally could not hold out for more than a few moments before shattering.
Fortunately, his physical constitution was formidable enough. Although these anomalies left numerous wounds across his body, they could not impair his combat effectiveness for the time being.
In truth, the Blood Potion was not only amplifying Lin Lei’s strength but also enhancing his body's regenerative powers.
Even so, the sheer number of anomalies meant he could not simply brute-force everything indefinitely.
Having eliminated the second fourth-tier anomaly, he once again dissolved into a blood mist.
It had to be said that the Mist Transformation ability was nothing short of a divine skill.
The only drawback was that Mist Transformation consumed an enormous amount of energy; even at peak condition, he could not maintain it for very long.
After repeating the process to eliminate two more fourth-tier anomalies, the duration of his Blood Potion was still active, but his stamina was beginning to lag behind.
Transforming into mist, generating spiritual light shields, activating boiling blood, demonization, and cellular vivification—he was constantly driving these abilities without a moment's rest, engaged in high-intensity combat the entire time. No matter how robust his physical body was, it could not sustain such a pace indefinitely.
Therefore, upon taking down the fourth fourth-tier red-crystal monster, he once again triggered Plunder.
His gluttony energy had accumulated in massive amounts, so this level of consumption was naturally of no consequence.
A single fourth-tier red-crystal monster was roughly enough to restore Lin Lei to his absolute peak condition.
Furthermore, it would enhance the newly plundered "Aura" and his ability to generate spiritual light shields.
Feeling his vitality surge back into his body, with all his injuries healing completely at a visible rate, Lin Lei’s eyes shone with exceptional brilliance.
He then transformed back into a blood mist and sped toward the next fourth-tier anomaly.
As Lin Lei grew accustomed to the rhythm of his attacks—coupled with the fact that his Dragon Might could be reused after a certain interval, alongside the enhanced effectiveness of his spiritual light shield—his efficiency in slaughtering the fourth-tier red-crystal monsters steadily increased.
He subsequently cut down seven or eight more fourth-tier red-crystal monsters before triggering Plunder yet again.
His abilities upgraded once more, and as the number of red-crystal monsters continually dwindled, the effectiveness of their "Aura" naturally plummeted in tandem. With this shift in the balance of power, eliminating the remaining fourth-tier red-crystal monsters became even easier.
Having suffered heavy losses, the surviving fourth-tier red-crystal monsters finally realized that Lin Lei was actively hunting them down. Escorted by the surrounding horde, they began fleeing once more toward the location of the crystal tower.
Lin Lei pursued and killed yet another fourth-tier red-crystal monster, intending to press his advantage and wipe out the remaining fleeing targets, when he suddenly felt his strength plummeting sharply.
"The duration of my Blood Potion has run out!"
