With Sevis’s order issued, the drones of the Savi fleet began to alter course. Their target was no longer the defensive line of the Stellar Origin civilization; instead, they swung toward its rear, where the command center and logistical supply routes were located.

The rear commanders of the Stellar Origin civilization quickly realized the change. They hurried to send the observed flight paths of the ships to Qushi Xin’s position. When Qushi Xin received the report, his expression turned grave. He knew that if the command center were destroyed, the entire frontline of the Stellar Origin civilization would collapse in an instant.

“Old Xu, we have to find a way to stop those ships!” Qushi Xin racked his mind for a countermeasure. This was the first large-scale war under his command, and he could not produce a perfect response so quickly. Still, he suppressed the impulse to call upon divine power directly and turned to Xu Weiyi.

Xu Weiyi kept his eyes fixed on the screen. His mechanical thought processes were running at full speed, searching for a way to bypass the interference of the Savi fleet’s mechanical systems and alter the attack routes of those drones. Yet for an independent mechanical entity, the workload was still somewhat overwhelming when facing an entire fleet.

“Then it seems we can only—”

Xu Weiyi glanced at Qushi Xin, who was straining to issue orders, and at Xu Yiyi, who was desperately maintaining the network, then slipped away from the command center without a sound.

Before leaving, he activated the remaining hidden anti-air units of the Stellar Origin civilization. They had been designed specifically to counter precisely this kind of aerial threat.

Anti-air weapons began firing at the Savi fleet’s drones, trying to bring them down before they could reach their targets.

At the same moment, some of the Stellar Origin civilization’s smaller warships launched charges against the drones, attempting to use their own bodies to block these lethal attacks.

Sevis watched it all from the command ship, a cold gleam flashing in his eyes.

He knew the sacrifice of these drones would deal a severe blow to the Stellar Origin civilization. Even if they failed to reach all their targets, the devastation they could cause would still be enough.

Though the anti-air fire of the Stellar Origin civilization was beginning to take effect and some of the drones were being shot down, a few still broke through the defensive line and raced toward the rear.

“Is it time to use divine power?”

Threads of electricity began to flow over Qushi Xin’s body. Just as he was preparing to unleash divine power and destroy the swarm filling the sky, Xu Yiyi suddenly cried out:

“Wait! An unknown formation has appeared in the rear!!”

The instant she finished speaking, the data streams in her eyes came to a sudden halt, and the pressure on the network dropped abruptly to its lowest point. She rose, swept her gaze around, and found no sign of Xu Weiyi. At once, she reported to Qushi Xin:

“The rear is friendly forces!”

Qushi Xin also stopped the circulation of divine power. He too immediately searched for Xu Weiyi’s figure, but found nothing. The sudden appearance of friendly forces in the rear instantly reminded him of Xu Weiyi.

“Old Xu, you really are our savior!” Silently thanking Xu Weiyi in his heart, Qushi Xin immediately adjusted the frontline tactics, strengthening the interference and assault on the Savi fleet to draw its attention away.

“Commander Sevis! Massive mechanical life signs detected! It should be the civilization behind them making a move!”

A lookout reported in panic to Sevis. If a mechanical civilization intervened, it would be a devastating blow to the current situation of the Savi fleet.

“Why are you panicking!”

Sevis snapped at him sharply. Then he closed his eyes and began thinking rapidly about how to counter the enemy.

The tension in his brow gradually eased. An unreadable expression spread across his face, and when he opened his eyes again, they had grown faintly dim.

“All ships, open the information capsules!”

“Commander Sevis, don’t tell me you mean—”

The lookout felt as though he had plunged into an ice chamber. Information capsules were devices used by the Savi civilization to store battlefield intelligence, intended to preserve that information for the arriving army.

At the same time, they also signified that the fleet leaving behind those capsules had already prepared for total sacrifice.

“So what if it’s the mechanical civilization? Even if I can never return to my home world, I can’t just stand by and watch these cosmic scourges ravage this place!”

“Disable the signal barrier. Throw this intel as far as you can!”

Sevis’s expression had turned somewhat mad. In this universe, carbon-based life despised the existence of the mechanical civilization to the point of hatred. Once the news of a mechanical civilization spread, this place would soon become a land of death, and no civilization would leave behind even a single artifact of the mechanical kind.

“Broadcast to the entire fleet! The enemy has aligned themselves with the mechanical civilization! Remove all weapon restraints and begin indiscriminate attack!”

“I’m sorry, Commander Yelus. I’ll leave an explanation for that lord in the information capsule.”

Xu Weiyi arrived at the ship’s main control room, then connected to the internal network and began operating continuously. Once the process was complete, the entire hull of the ship began to flip over.

Within the originally empty vessel, a staggering number of mechanical bodies suddenly appeared. They stood in neat rows, every headlamp dim, as though none of them had been activated.

Xu Weiyi walked toward one of the mechanical bodies. Just as he was about to touch its head, he paused slightly.

He had noticed a simple bracelet on his wrist.

It was a meaningless ornament they had bought while shopping at the market with Qushi Xin and Xu Yiyi.

“Material things may vanish, but the feelings and memories they carry can endure forever.”

He murmured to himself, then reached out and began linking with the mechanical body before him. As a flash of red light passed, the mechanical body stared straight at Xu Weiyi.

“Supreme Core Platform detected a link to highest-level combat entity 4563...”

“Detected act of treachery...”

“Analyzing behavioral logic... impossible...”

“Entity 4563, please upload the reason for the link.”

“Xu... Entity 4563 requests activation of the combat cluster.”

“Rejected... traitor entity has no authority to activate the combat cluster...”

Data flowed through Xu Weiyi’s eyes. His human body let out a long breath, then continued to request the mechanical body before him:

“Entity 4563 requests activation of the combat cluster. Objective: extermination of organic life.”

“Processing... matching priority...”

“Priority confirmed. Combat cluster basic authority activated. Command entity: highest-level combat entity 4563.”

“After the extermination directive concludes, traitor handling protocol will continue...”

As the mechanical army before him awoke, a faint smile appeared at the corner of Xu Weiyi’s mouth.
