Author's Note on Official Publication
After much rushing, I have finally managed to stockpile four chapters, which means it is time to write my launch post.
My writing speed is dreadfully slow; there is simply no helping it. It takes me about three hours to finish a single chapter, and that is not even counting the time spent on brainstorming beforehand or editing afterward.
Let me talk a little about this book. I had been unable to secure a contract for a long time, so I decided to follow the trend with this one as a way to practice my craft.
The first part was written a year ago and originally posted in the Xianxia category. I left it unfinished for a long time before picking it back up and reposting it in the Supernatural category.
As everyone knows, the Supernatural category on Qidian is quite niche. I did not have high expectations for this book; it was meant for practice. Since I am a slow writer, posting in a quieter category allowed me to write in peace, which suited me just fine.
Because I had old drafts, I was able to update ten thousand words daily at the beginning. That "Habitual Outburst" badge in my honor profile came from that period.
I received the contract notification at around seventy thousand words. Because of my slow pace, I planned to wait until I had more content before sending the contract back, hoping to make a push on the public new author rankings. I dragged it out until I was nearly at one hundred and seventy thousand words.
Truth be told, I originally wanted to wait until two hundred thousand words, but I was afraid the editor would blacklist me if I delayed any longer.
By the time I fell off the public new author rankings, I had over eight hundred followers. My original goal was one thousand, but I fell short. At the time, I thought that since the Supernatural category is so quiet, a thousand followers would be a solid foundation, and it wouldn't matter much whether I got featured or how well those features performed later on.
After signing the contract, I would like to thank my editor, Zhusha, for having faith in me. I was given a test-run feature that directly led to a strong recommendation, a client-side placement, and a spot on the client-side curated page. My follower count jumped straight to three thousand—a number I had once thought unreachable.
My goal then became a bit more ambitious, and I decided to aim for five thousand followers by the time of the launch.
I must thank editor Zhusha again here. When the book reached over four thousand followers, I was arranged to be featured on Sanjiang. After that, my follower count climbed to twelve thousand.
Two weeks later—which brings us to now—I was arranged for a strong recommendation. I am now approaching sixteen thousand followers, and by the time this feature ends, I should have close to twenty thousand.
And so, at midnight on January 1st, 2019, this book will officially launch.
Because my updates are slow, I don't have any major expectations for its performance. Getting a few hundred initial subscriptions would be fine. I hope everyone will subscribe and show their support. As for monthly tickets or donations, it really doesn't matter.
After the launch, I won't be explicitly thanking donors at the end of every chapter. Please feel free to donate or not as you wish, because I cannot offer extra chapters in return—my writing speed is simply too slow, and there is nothing I can do about that.
Regarding the update schedule, I will release four chapters at launch. From then on, I will update as much as I can write. I won't make any empty promises; my priority is to ensure the plot doesn't fall apart, and then I will try my best to increase my speed.
Actually, I have improved quite a bit compared to before. In the past, I couldn't even finish one chapter a day. My abilities are limited, and it is quite frustrating. Things that seem effortless for others are always a struggle for me.
