Chapter Fifty-One: Ye Yun Returns
According to what the Demon Lord of Infinity had described and based on ancient records passed down from antiquity, the Nine Heavens and Ten Earths Demonic Arts are divided into five volumes: the Crimson Flame, the Azure Flame, the Indigo Flame, the White Flame, and the Black Flame. Each of the five chapters corresponds to one of the five stages of immortality cultivation, and if one can cultivate the Black Flame volume to perfection, ascension to immortality is within reach!
The Crimson Flame volume allows one to forge a demonic body, greatly enhancing combat strength. If paired with martial techniques suited for the demonic body, one’s power can be pushed to its zenith.
“The Heaven-Scorching Seal?”
After accepting the information transmitted by the Demon Lord of Infinity, Ye Yun murmured to himself.
“The highest attainment of the Crimson Flame volume can bring you to the Nascent Soul stage. This Heaven-Scorching Seal is truly the most suitable martial divine power for you. Its might surpasses any other supernatural power or spell below the Soul Transformation stage,” the Demon Lord of Infinity said with a smile.
“Is it really that powerful?” Excitement lit up Ye Yun’s face.
“It is powerful, but do not think that just because you have cultivated the Nine Heavens and Ten Earths Demonic Arts and have obtained the Eyes of Infinity, you are now invincible,” the Demon Lord’s smile suddenly vanished, his tone turning stern.
“From ancient times to now, the world has seen countless mighty figures. Especially in the Great Thousand World, Nascent Soul cultivators are as common as dogs, Soul Transformation experts walk the land, and even those who reach the Void Return stage are but ordinary. You have only just completed the Qi Refinement stage and have yet to build your foundation. The road ahead is still long,” he said, his expression grave.
This principle had also been taught to him by his master, Ye Yu, and Ye Yun had long engraved it in his heart. He knew that the former lord of the Demonic Palace only meant well, so he listened attentively without interruption.
“In my day, I reached the realm of human immortals, merging with the Dao, yet in the end, I too was besieged by three thousand mighty foes, perished, and now only a wisp of my remnant soul lingers here in this forlorn place…”
The Demon Lord of Infinity spoke at length, describing both the ruthlessness and the wonders of the cultivation world. Ye Yun listened closely, his expression thoughtful whenever he heard something profound.
“All right, I’ll send you out now. When it comes to your daily cultivation, I’ll try to guide you so you avoid detours, but your journey is your own to walk. I won’t teach you everything,” the Demon Lord concluded.
“Yes, I understand,” Ye Yun nodded. His master, Ye Yu, had said much the same: only by walking step by step on one’s own could one reach the summit and become a true powerhouse.
The Demon Lord said no more. With a wave of his hand, Ye Yun felt space and time shift around him, and soon, all became calm once more.
“Hm?” Ye Yun looked around, frowning slightly. He did not know how much time had passed in the space within the Eyes of Infinity, but the corpse of the black ape was already rotting, filling the air with a foul stench.
He did not immediately return to Yunshui City, but instead leapt into the dense forest, weaving his way through the trees until, before long, he arrived once more at the cave where he had first discovered the spirit milk.
Stepping into the cave, he was immediately assaulted by the stench. Deep, heavy breathing emanated from within, laced with potent malice and demonic energy. Clearly, after the death of the previous monster, another great demon had claimed this lair.
He had returned to see if Wu Daoshan had left anything valuable behind after his death, but with a formidable demon lurking within, he abandoned the thought of venturing deeper.
This was a dangerous part of Sunset Mountain, home to many great demons at the late Foundation Establishment stage and above. He needed to be cautious.
“I’ve gained a lot these past few days. Whatever Wu Daoshan left behind hardly matters now,” Ye Yun thought to himself. He turned and left, careful not to disturb the demon slumbering within.
A large blue-feathered firebird, wings spanning more than ten meters, soared overhead. Ye Yun glanced up; it was the same great demon he had often used as a sparring partner in recent days.
The blue-feathered firebird did not notice Ye Yun below, and with a few powerful beats of its wings, quickly disappeared into the distance. Its speed was impressive, but with his Eyes of Infinity activated, Ye Yun could instantly perceive countless flaws in the demon’s flight.
“What a marvelous thing, what a treasure!” Ye Yun was both delighted and exhilarated.
…
“Father, Mother, I’m home!”
“Yun’er? Is that you, Yun’er?” In the sitting room, after waiting nearly eight days, Ye Zili and his wife heard the familiar voice from outside.
“Yun’er!” His mother, Liu Shuyun, hurried out, taking Ye Yun’s hand and fussing over him, her eyes scanning him from top to bottom. “Where have you been all this time? Why were you gone so long? You had your mother worried sick!”
“Sorry, Mother. I made some breakthroughs during this time of tempering, so I stayed out a bit longer,” Ye Yun replied, a little embarrassed.
“Heh, Yun’er is grown now, and he’s a cultivator beyond the mundane. He’ll often be away. Shuyun, if you’re like this, how can Yun’er focus on his cultivation when he’s out in the world?” Ye Zili stepped forward, gently chiding his wife, though his eyes were brimming with excitement as he looked at Ye Yun.
“By the way, Elder Ye Min has been very concerned about you these past few days. Ye Xian also came by a few times. Since you’re back, you should go thank them.”
After chatting for a while, Ye Zili remembered and reminded Ye Yun.
Ye Min’s thirty years of self-imposed reclusion had all started because of him; even when opposing the head of the family, Elder Ye Min had spoken up for him. Aside from his father and master, Elder Ye Min was one of the people he respected most.
“Heh, I knew you wouldn’t die so easily out there. How could the disciple of our founder be ordinary?”
As soon as Ye Yun pushed open the gate to Elder Ye Min’s courtyard, the white-haired old man appeared before him, smiling warmly.
“Thank you for your concern, Elder. I’m sorry to have troubled you,” Ye Yun said respectfully.
“It’s no trouble at all. I spend my days here studying alchemy; I quite enjoy the peace and quiet,” Elder Ye Min waved his hand nonchalantly, entirely at ease.
“Did you kill Wu Lie?” Elder Ye Min asked directly.
“Wu Lie? Could it have been him…?” Ye Yun was momentarily stunned, then recalled the Foundation Establishment cultivator who had ambushed him, and described the man’s appearance.
“That’s right, that was Wu Lie. That rascal Ye Peng finally couldn’t restrain himself and tried to harm you!” Elder Ye Min’s beard bristled with anger.
“Even if the family head punishes me when he returns, I don’t care! I’ll go deal with that little bastard myself!” Elder Ye Min was not known for his temperance. Enraged, he made to seek trouble with Ye Peng.
Ye Yun hurriedly held him back. He did not want this protective elder to suffer any trouble on his account.
“Please don’t be angry, Elder. There are still two years left of our three-year agreement. Ye Peng will die sooner or later; there’s no need to rush,” Ye Yun urged.
“Are you sure? It’s been over half a year, but you’re still only at the peak of Qi Refinement?” Elder Ye Min asked.
“My master’s cultivation method is extraordinary, so breakthroughs are more difficult. But it won’t be long now. Once I reach Foundation Establishment, not even ten Ye Pengs together could defeat me,” Ye Yun said.
Hearing Ye Yun’s confident tone, with a hint of pride, Elder Ye Min was somewhat surprised. He couldn’t fathom where such unwavering confidence came from.
But then he remembered: this youth was the founder’s disciple. With the abilities of that legendary figure, how could his disciple be anything but exceptional?
The Ye Clan’s founder had always been like a legend, impossible for ordinary people to fathom…
